Zola was 29 when he signed for Chelsea, as was Zidane when he joined Real Madrid. And Milan disposed of Pirlo because of his age.

Don't get me wrong, I'd have loved to sign him a few years ago myself but chances are that he might not have made the same impact.

But anything can happen if you wait till the end if the season. We are also dealing with so called agents.

It also depends on how he copes with the jet lag, the time changes, how well he can sleep on a plane, etc. Some people are just very bad travellers even if they're in the posh seats.

He was fucking woeful today, completely invisible. That being said, I still wouldn't have brought him off as it was a pointless substitution that didn't change anything.

Fernando's role became redundant the minute we went 1-0 down (let alone 2), and started having to chase the game rather than protect our goal.
