Since joe was "rested" , he has been exemplary , didnt sulk , got on with the job , got his place back , deserves a lot of credit .Maybe our captain and leader could benefit form a "rest" , it might get him back to being the best defender in europe again

Spot on mate and I have moved it to the Joe thread. But totally agree with your comments ref our "leader".

Re: Hang your heads in shame .. those Hart haters.

At his very best when he's busy eg Spurs debut, Dortmund etc.

And that isn't a criticism of games when he's not so heavily involved, it's just he seems to thrive on action.

Outstanding performance, as said above seems to thrive when he's kept busy. Can't remember a better goalkeeping exhibition...even the goal they scored after watching a replay if Rakatic hadn't had looped it so high Joe was saving it if he tried anything else

A good clip with almost all of his great saves tonight

This was as good a display as I have seen in a long time. The number of 1 on 1's he won was fantastic. Class touch at the end congratulating the young Barca goalkeeper too. Hope Nasri was watching and learning from his attitude. Well done Joe!

There's never been any doubting his shot stopping and one on ones. He's up there with the very best in the world in that regard so last night just reiterated it.
The confidence he's going to get from that performance shouldn't be underestimated. That could be the shot in the arm that gets us over the line in the CL places.

One of the biggest assets we have at this club. Every goalkeeper can make mistakes, I would still say he has to develop his concentration to the next level to make sure he can be relied upon in every game regardless of the scale of it. In terms of shot stopping he is one of the very best and in terms of mentality, leadership and respect there is no one better in our side. He speaks well on and off the pitch and should be leading the National side in my opinion. He kept us in it over both legs but we couldn't make the most of it. Glad to see him shine on the big stage, a young English keeper who has been given a chance at City - he is important for us on and off the pitch and an inspiration to players from our academy on what they can achieve through hard work and the right mentality.

Been a bit of a Hart basher in the past. What a performance. Got to be up there with the greatest individual performance by a City player ever for me.

Didn't see the game last night (I was working) so I'm not going to comment on it.
The interesting thing about Joe is that for the really big games, he often shows. He needs adrenalin to really perform. It's in the "small" games that he has a regrettable tendency to go to sleep. By the way, I don't have him at fault, really, for either of the Liverpool goals, or the Burnley one. They were all great strikes. He could have saved them. But you can't say he's a numpty for not doing so. Of all the goals that have gone in this season, there've been ones where you said, well, you could have done better on that. But there's honestly only one where I have him almost totally at fault, and that's the Stoke one at home, way back. Time and again, he's been exposed by his defence (that's very worrying in itself, but that's another story).
Being as fair and equitable as I can, I'd say this, over the past four or five seasons. He's the best English keeper, by a country mile. And along with Lloris, De Gea, Courtois, he's with the best in England. He's definitely at home in that company. I don't think he's a great keeper — the great keepers don't just shot stop, they dominate their area with an aura of total calm, whether it's crosses, free kicks, or whatever, they also distribute quickly and accurately to the player who's going to make the difference — but the jury's still out on it. He may yet become one of the greats. For the time being, I'm just happy to have him at his level.
