I can't believe there is even a debate regarding his distribution, it needs to improve. Kicking is ( and has been for many years) an integral part of a goalkeeping and it really isn't Joes strong point, especially with his weaker foot. As a shot stopper he is up there with the best but his kicking does leave a bit to be desired.

Like fucking groundhog day on here. People go on like Hart has never made a good kick in his life. I have seen Hart perform some shit kicks (like every goalkeeper has) but I have also seen him perform some amazing kicks that have started counter attacks that lead to us scoring. The way we play with the high line means Hart never has an option to kick it short he has to kick it long and since Aguero/Silva/Sterling/Navas are about 5 and a half foot they aren't going to be winning many aerial duels are they? I'm sure once Pep gets here he will instruct the defenders to make themselves open for the short pass and It won't be a problem.

But to be honest I couldn't give a toss about his kicking as long as he keeps making points winning saves and remains the best goalkeeper in world football at one on ones he can kick it to fucking orbit for all I care.

Nonsense.

They're all better keepers than Joe.

I've said it before but I think Joe could be one of the early casualties of Pep coming in.

Pep requires his keeper to play like a sweeper, has to be really adept at playing out the back, and that's always been Joe's biggest flaw.

He's improved on it over the past 12 months, but it's still a weakness.

Pep will have a stronger brief than Manuel and won't give a toss about sentiment or stepping on any toes, his sole agenda is our progression as a side, becominf a real force at home and abroad.

Don't be surprised if Joe's status as undisputed number 1 becomes vulnerable when Pep comes in.

I doubt if Pep has the same prejudices as you and imagine he will have bigger priorities (if he arrives).

It's an important part of a goalkeepers game these days and it needs to improve. He does have options, often a couple, but due to his either lack of confidence or being coached not to play it out quickly he refuses to until it's too late.
I don't know why people get so defensive when it comes to this aspect of his game, it's something that can get better with better coaching which I'm sure he'd be grateful for. Most other parts of his game are up there with the best, but all keepers, however good, should never rest on their laurels and always strive to get better.

Charlie's distribution has been better this season. Not sure whether that is down to his own individual improvement as a player, his form this season, or maybe the increase in pace up front, as well as height in Bony. It is his biggest weakness for me, but not a total deal-breaker or anything like that. In fact, I think could make a decent sweeper we the right improvements.

What's great about Joe Hart is obviously his agility, his reflexes and overall shot-stopping decision making. But also, he's a fairly consistent, he's loud and confident when barking at team-mates, and he's got safe hands. For me, he's world class and in today's market, I can only think of Manuel Neuyer who I'd want if we needed to replace him.

Shit hot form this season too.

Does he? Or did he just take advantage of one of Neuer's strengths as a goalkeeper? You didn't really see Valdes playing on the edge of his box at Barca under pep. As long as he's comfortable with the ball and has options he'll be fine. And Hart is very comfortable on the ball and has never looked anything less than that, his kicking is suspect most of the time but he really doesn't have much to aim for in our side hence why he often just kicks it out wide where there's less danger, and it's easier to pick up the loose ball/gain a throw in.

I wasn't aware that anyone called Pep had been employed as a goal keeping coach or in any other position at Manchester City. Has something happened that the club has not told us about?

Joe Hart is Manchester City and England's number one goalkeeper and I can see no reason whatsover why he cannot remain so as long as he does not have an injury.

Coz we need a David Silva in net apparently.
