Coz we need a David Silva in net apparently.
Nah, he's too short.
Seriously though, there's nothing wrong with talking about an area of his game that some would like improved.
If he's being told not to play it short or look for a quicker release then fair enough but if it's something he wants to do but isn't confident enough then work at it.
Not many are disputing his positive attributes which there are many, and like Eccles blue I'd be happy to see him here for a long while yet.

Does he? Or did he just take advantage of one of Neuer's strengths as a goalkeeper? You didn't really see Valdes playing on the edge of his box at Barca under pep. As long as he's comfortable with the ball and has options he'll be fine. And Hart is very comfortable on the ball and has never looked anything less than that, his kicking is suspect most of the time but he really doesn't have much to aim for in our side hence why he often just kicks it out wide where there's less danger, and it's easier to pick up the loose ball/gain a throw in.
Very, very debatable.

I know people want to blindly defend Joe, but it's not at all an unreasonable point to say that he's not at all suited to what Pep wants from his goalkeepers. The fact that he kept Victor Valdes as long as he did pretty much proves that he values the keepers ability to pass it out from the back far above their ability to make saves and deal with crosses, because Valdes was dodgy as fuck. Joe is the opposite, he's an excellent shot stopper, pretty good on crosses, but he kicks like an english keeper. He very, very rarely plays it out from the back and is far happier to just hoof it as far as he can down the touchline, in the better safe than sorry style. Pep won't tolerate that, so Joe will have to improve or find himself under huge pressure.

He will love the challenge and the other players will have to show more for him so he can pass it out from the back under pep

Yes all taken aboard but look at the difference between the leagues. Slower paced league with a dominant Barcelona often leaves the option for Valdes to keep it ticking over. Half of the league here chase the ball in play down to the last man (goalkeeper). To work on our ability to pass it out from the keeper, our whole back 5 needs working on as a unit.

Charlie's distribution has been better this season. Not sure whether that is down to his own individual improvement as a player, his form this season, or maybe the increase in pace up front, as well as height in Bony. It is his biggest weakness for me, but not a total deal-breaker or anything like that. In fact, I think could make a decent sweeper we the right improvements.

What's great about Joe Hart is obviously his agility, his reflexes and overall shot-stopping decision making. But also, he's a fairly consistent, he's loud and confident when barking at team-mates, and he's got safe hands. For me, he's world class and in today's market, I can only think of Manuel Neuyer who I'd want if we needed to replace him.

Shit hot form this season too.

Hart little to pass to. The full backs are usually pushed way up near the half way line so unless the CB's drop deep either side of the area he cant reasonably play it out most of the time. His options are limited.
When teams press, the CB are no longer an option and since everyone else is pushed up he has to go long. See the debacle against Liverpool for the first goal. Harts pass was long to Sagna, but it was accurate.

Agreed, the defence will have to show more for passes and he will have to be a bit braver with the ball. It's all a bit of an unknown and only time will tell as to whether he can cope with it, which is pretty much the point. I'm sure he's up for the challenge and we will just have to wait and see if he is up to the challenge.

We also don't have an alonso who will come short for the ball.

I highly doubt Pep will get rid of him based on his kicking ability.

Yeah, I just mean that his handling skills are more than adequate. Errr... he holds onto the ball well, looking at his saves, generally speaking. When he doesn't hold onto it, he parries it into clever areas...

(And I'm not forgetting the bollock he dropped this season either, everyone makes mistakes and that was certainly a freak accident. I've seen many world class keepers make a freak mistake.)

Think full backs are pushed up so that Hart can kick it into that general area , certainly that is what happens when sagna plays
