I suppose we don't have any easy games on paper so he wouldn't feature but I'd much prefer to see him used if we were 2-0 up with 15minutes left instead of putting Bony on or having to keep Sterling on the pitch. Having said that, it may mean he's used more in domestic games to save the other strike options for CL games. If he can feature in a fair few domestic games and score/create some goals then that would be a good season in any case and leave him closer to making a mark next time around when there could be a spot free (or he makes the B list).

there's romance vs realism here. That group aint easy and you do NOT want to be bringing on a kid who has hardly played first team football into a competition worth that much money with only a 2 goal lead with 15 to go! it's tough but he'll need plenty of first XI footy yet

For me, I still don't understand the Bony signing. He may well prove me wrong via the goals he bangs in but he adds nothing to the team that I can see. Whereas Nacho on Saturday obviously went out wide to replace Sterling, but could just have easily have replaced Aguero. I'm not anti-Bony but he just seems to be around to keep Yaya company.

Its no surprise at all that Kelechi doesn't make the list as we've already seen how reluctant Pelle is to play the younger lads even in no pressure situations, so the possibility of him getting a chance in CL games with his job on the line were minimal indeed.

I will be delighted if Bony makes a significant contribution. Just not seen it yet.

Your second point is really the one I was making about Nacho and that would be my only disappointment at present. Despite the quality in the CL squad, there is not much youthfulness on display, save for Sterling, of course.

Yeah I can understand why it's happened, no less disappointing though. Fernando's the one for me. With Delph, MD, Fernandinho all capable of playing a more 'holding' role, he should've been left out. Then again it's a difficult one because if you leave a senior player out you might get a Jovetic situation where they spit their dummy out and it causes unrest in the dressing room.

We'd have lost to Roma without Fernando and been in the Europa league.

That wasn't a criticism of Fernando the player. However as I said in my post, we now have Delph in the mix plus with Otamendi coming you'd think MD will be utilised more as a DM rather than at centre half.

Take your point though. We all have our preferences but ultimately I trust the people who make these decisions to make the right ones!
