Had to laugh at Pougatch on 5 live last night, when he said " for 50m he should be playing like that". But no doubt this would've been the same prick when he signed, who would have been slating him, calling him a Chelsea reject etc.

Funny how Di Maria who cost 60m has been conveniently forgot about, money pissed right up against the wall. The first real bad game for De Bruyne and the media will be all over it.

Pellegrini has quite a dilemma. He has potentially the best two number 10's in the league. Who he plays in that position will be fascinating to watch.

I would imagine they will rotate during a game. As long as they don't get in one another's' way!

Nice problem to have, and easily solved because both are good enough to run matches from the wider roles, especially with fullbacks who bomb on.

I don't see a dilemma for the manager.

It's abundantly clear both Silva and De Bruyne have the intelligence to play in any of the forward positions.

I was worried about life after Silva, now I can rest easy for at least the next six years thanks to De Bruyne.

I can pay KDB no bigger compliment.

He's better than Gerrard was at that age. Even I underestimated just how good he is. I'm really flabbergasted by his natural ability. What Michael Johnson could've been also.

When we were first being linked with De Bruyne, someone within the club told me that they viewed his as Silva's long term successor.

I couldn't see it at the time, but I certainly can now.

WOW that is some statement. I too can see KDB being a great player for us. Silva at the moment is on another level however IMO

The greatest thing about KDB is that he never stands still and admires his pass, he is already looking to get back on the ball as quickly as possible.

I know you have long stated he reminded you of Gerrard, and I do see some similarities, in terms of always trying to play on the front foot.

For me, though, he actually reminds me of hybrid Xavi and Iniesta.

He's got such a wonderfully-rounded game and his brain, like Silva's, sees the instant picture around him.

What the fuck were Chelsea thinking letting this guy go?! He's incredible.

Quite simple : Mourinho preferred Willian, Oscar, Schurrle and Mata to De Bruyne. De Bruyne needs confidence and games to be at his best. When he gets those, his offensive effectiveness is better then those players imo. Mourinho wasn't prepared to give him either of those. After a bad Chelsea-performance at Manchester United in the second game, the other players kept their place in the team, KDB didn't even make the squad anymore. While KDB had to prove himself in one game in two months, other players kept playing games because of their reputation and transfer value.

With the WC in the summer, KDB asked Mourinho to leave, went to Wolfsburg and showed he's world class. Mourinho blamed his mentality, but KDB just isn't a player who can sit on the sideline for too long.

He wasnt that good back then. Wolfsburg trained him hardcore and developed him. In the First 6 months at wolfsburg he looked rubbish

Rubbish imo. In Bremen you could already see KDB is a very effective player going forward and with the national squad he was already performing at that level when he was at Chelsea. But KDB has always been a player that needs confidence and a few games to be at his best. When he didn't play for a long time at Chelsea, he needed a few games at Wolfsburg, but towards the end of the season he was back to his level.

Your last comment sums it up. He plays the game like he is watching it on the telly. I haven't seen vision like that in a long time. Silva has more grace, but KDB has more power. Colin Bell is my comparison,

He looks world class to me already. He will win us the league this year and he will win us the Champions League in the next 5 years.
