Had to laugh at Pougatch on 5 live last night, when he said " for 50m he should be playing like that". But no doubt this would've been the same prick when he signed, who would have been slating him, calling him a Chelsea reject etc.

Funny how Di Maria who cost 60m has been conveniently forgot about, money pissed right up against the wall. The first real bad game for De Bruyne and the media will be all over it.
They know they will look stupid if they start praising him after calling him a flop. That's why his opening 3 man of the match performances have been largely ignored. People don't like to admit when they're wrong.

Your last comment sums it up. He plays the game like he is watching it on the telly. I haven't seen vision like that in a long time. Silva has more grace, but KDB has more power. Colin Bell is my comparison,

He looks world class to me already. He will win us the league this year and he will win us the Champions League in the next 5 years.

My dad ( now 64 and not one for knowing every footballer in Europe) turned to me the other day and said 'who is this guy, he reminds me of Bell?'

The truly exciting thing is KDB is doing this in an era of 100mph, which means he must be a very special talent indeed.

I have high hopes he will be our Lampard-esque 20-goal a season man.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. He's unusual in that he plays urgently but without any stress - I think that will be a real bonus in big games, too.

He plays so differently from most players, quite unique.

He's better than Gerrard was at that age. Even I underestimated just how good he is. I'm really flabbergasted by his natural ability. What Michael Johnson could've been also.

Ye, I'm looking at KDB as a better version of Gerrard/Lampard which is exciting! Also the older generation saying Colin Bell!!

Same same!

My Dad was the same. I couldn't make the West Ham game and he rang me straight after and said "Colin Bell has just been reincarnated".

He's going to get goals too. you can see that clearly by now. Hits it hard, gets his head down, instictively know where the gap is. I'm as excited as when I saw Kinkladze, Aguero and Silva for their first few games.

My Dad is 10 years younger and is a right cynical bastard when it comes to new signings but after his first decent touch he was going on about how good he is. To get a compliment from my Dad is a special thing.

Damn that pass at 5:49 was lovely.

Watching that video and what stuck out to me most is how calm he is in possession, before even receiving a pass, he knows what to do, almost impossible to surprise him.

For vision and awareness have a look on the video (page 119) at 2:36....brilliant.
