He should have been played in his best position. He is fucking wasted out wide, yet still put through some quality passes that should have earned him an assist. Pellegrini is wasting him.
With Silva out, KDB should have been played at No.10 every game.

What a wasted opportunity.

i agree,

a flipping waste of his ability. i wonder what he makes of it all, he's probably not impressed so far with his game management.

He always says: "As long as I can play, I'm happy.". He will never cause problems about his position at the field. But he is clearly better at the 10 than as a winger. Everybody knows that, except for Pelle.

Not being argumentative mate, but which games do you think De Bruyne has dictated play in? I don't think dictating play is his game at all. He gives the ball away an awful lot and he always looks for the early, direct ball. It's kind of the opposite of dictating play.

Lots of games for Belgium and Wolfsburg. I can see a lot of similarities between City and the Belgian squad. Belgium has had several games where the midfield didn't work and we looked weak & inspirationless despite all the stars in our team. Very similar to how City now plays without Silva imo.
For Belgium the solution is simple: put KDB in the middle and let him do his thing.

I completely agree that KDB isn't as calm & collected as Silva, but he doesn't constantly go for risky plays in midfield like you think. I think he's doing that more now as a winger because he doesn't see any other way to create chances. So it's more of a desperation thing imo.

I don't think it's a case of Pellegrini not rating him - he just wants to fit in Yaya, too, and they can't both play in the middle

you musnt have tuned in then until after Pellegrini's favourite minute,60......when a substitution must be made.......and Delph replaced our best player.
Oh no, I saw Dihno's work rate and effort. And I agreed with his substitution. He was at risk of getting a red. But as energetic as Dihno's was, Debryune was every bit decisive in creating EVERY single gilt edge chance City had. That to me gives him the nod. Had we scored all 4 goals, we'd be talking about how Debryune took the game by the scruff of its neck and won it. Unfortunately, he had teammates who chose the wrong day to have one of their many shit in front of goal performances.

And that is why this obsessive over-focus on Yaya, always, always playing him if he's not physically incapable of going on the pitch, is starting to have a distorting, and finally destructive, effect on the team. KDB has gone on record as saying that his preferred position is in midfield, tucked in behind the front runners. But he's a lad who likes to fit in, wherever he's told to go. He's that good a player that he'll always be able to make a contribution, wherever he plays. That ball to Sterling on Wednesday night was wellnigh perfect. But he's not really a natural winger.

Agree. The problem is not just that yaya is a defensive liability now as a midfield 2 (I really want to find some recordings from 2011-14 to see what exactly was different, was yaya more energetic during those years or did the team change)

But, he is worse as a no 10, much inferior to other options such as silva de Bruyne or Nasri, just doesn't offer enough offensively or enough game changing moments.

i agree that MP in order to make yaya fit in anyway in the team , kdb has to shift to the wing ...

he has been down a bit in the last 2 games and so has the team obviously , just hope we are back to winning ways again !

Goal and assist in first half, that had to happen today. They couldn't keep missing all the chances he gave them.
