Cue the "waste of money" and "worst player in the side" comments... And the accusations of supporters wearing blinders when they give a reasoned, measured account of his performance.

Then again, lesser minds occupy the extremes as they are easier to understand (and they're always looking for something/someone to blame).

Lovely player when it's going well but never attempts to put in a tackle or pressure the man with the ball. He's the new Robinho, as I've already said, and will be gone after a year under Pep unless he bucks his ideas up.

Get the feeling he can turn it on against the lesser teams but struggles to impose himself against the higher quality, better organised sides.

His performances against Bayern last year would suggest otherwise, but I'm yet to see him have a good game against half decent opposition.
