I don't get those who gave been unsure about him. Like I've said multiple times, he is our best defender this season. It's not this game it's in most games. The funny part is that it hasn't been that close either. And the stats back this up.
He simply dwarfs every other defender statistically: For example, it be asinine if anyone claimed an offensive player who has scored the most goals, created the most chances, forced the most saves, made the most dribbles and had the highest pass completion rate. Such a player would easily be deemed the best player in the offensive area. Yet somehow, many preferred ( and still do) Mangala. In spite of the fact that Otamendi leads in practically every defensive statistical category: Tackles won, Ariel battles won, interceptions, clearances, crosses blocked, shots blocked, and pass completion.
It's quite the brain teaser.
