Player Topic: Raheem Sterling (2015/16)

Explain to me what he actually adds to the team.

He's not direct, he rarely beats his man, he always tries to cut back and slow the play down and he is constantly bundled off the ball with ease.

The fact is, many people on here have said that Navas is not good enough for us. Said that we need a much better winger to make our mark in Europe. Well we spent £50 million on one and Navas is currently twice the player Raheem is.

Balance

He's a 20 year old who works his bollocks off for the cause. Nullified Valence, and did a very good job. Helped us earn a valuable point. Wish the fucking imbeciles moaning would get off the lads back.

Harshly subbed imo.

Should've taken off Yaya at this point and moved Sterling to the centre, with Navas going right and De Bruyne left.

He also got nothing from Clattenburg first half when he was definitely fouled on at least two occasions. Especially when he was taken down from behind when about 25-30 yards out.

I must admit that I'm struggling to see a top 4 quality player in Sterling at present but like all players, he needs time to settle in.

Absolutely. Would have drawn free kicks and cards on another day. In fairness, I thought that Clatts was trying to be lenient all round.

And did think that he could have done more upfront than Bony but, then, that wouldn't be hard.

Frustrating at the moment. I expected a Mane like player dribbling wise but his unwillingness to even attempt to run at a man is driving me towards insanity fast!

£50 million on a player to add balance.

Bringing back Adam Johnson would have gave us more balance on that side than we previously had.

I've seen nothing from him so far to suggest that he could be world class or even a top PL player. He looks terrified of making a mistake and he seems reluctant to drive at the defender and actually beat a man. That's what he stood out at Liverpool for.

Perhaps we are coaching that out of him but for me he has looked twice the player when playing centrally than on a wing and that is worrying considering we have two of the best number 10s in the world already.
