I always laugh at the emotional reaction to diving. I think it's cultural. I don't particularly like diving, but its no fatal sin like most here see it. It is simply trying to gain an advantage illegally. And all players attempt to illegally gain an advantage one way or the other. Whether it's grabbing an opponents shirt, raising your hands when the ball clearly went off you. Persistent fouling, or taking a professional foul on a breakaway. These are all clearly illegal, and players do it to gain an advantage.

Diving is just another form of illegally gaining an advantage. No biggie as far as am concerned.

I utterly disagree with you. Diving is one of the many reasons I've started to actually hate football and footballers over the years (I still like the game and love City but I genuinely hate what the game has become and think it could be a billion times better sport than it is if all the shit was wiped out of the game for good). It's become a sport for fairy boys, stop-start-stop-start broken up games with a huge lack of flow and continuation of play because of all the fouls given for fuck all (especially European leagues and the Champions Lg) and those excusing diving are adding to the shitness of it all.

I'm not saying Sterling is a diving bastard but we have never really been a team, even with all these foreign players we've had, of divers and I've often been out of my seat screaming "get up you diving ****" at Yaya or Balotelli when they've tried it on while playing for us while others cry at the ref for not giving a foul...but Sterling does and has dived a few times.

Sure. I'm against all forms of cheating, not just diving. But it seems many here have a particular dislike for diving. As if it isn't just another form of getting an advantage like pulling a shirt or taking a professional foul.
Football doesn't have a history of honesty, its not golf. It's why there is a rec making the calls. I don't like any form if cheating, but I accept its a part of the game. I don't pretend diving is uniquely different from the other forms or attempts at cheating.

Couldn't agree more. If i was a professional footballer i don't know how i'd keep my cool if somebody dived from a tackle i had made. I despise it more than pretty much anything in football. I'll call out City players that do it too. Luckily, we've not really had any serial divers, we've had a few that have done it and like you i shout at them to get up and get on with it, the only one i can remember doing it regularly is Corradi. Sterling has had a few dives during his City career so far, i wouldn't call him a diver and he's certainly no Ashley Young but he does need to cut it out before he gets a reputation for himself I'd hope it gets coached out of him soon. I'm sure someone like Zab or Kolarov would have a word if he did it in training.

Motm today and well deserved. Fantastic work rate this kid, highly motivated player for us, clearly loves it here. Endearing stuff, love the lad.

And i digress, went beyond the call of duty, even made up for Kolarov's mistakes and was crucial in a key defensive moment.

Ran himself into the ground for us tonight. Was the only player who looked like he would score and he was always the first man back when they broke. Very impressed with him.
