MYTH NUMBER 1 – “HE DOESN’T PLAY ENOUGH

Kun has made 30+ appearances (including subs) in 3 of the last 4 league seasons. His worse season was 2013/2104 when he made 23 appearances and we won the league.

Since the start of last season ONLY 2 outfield players have played more minutes in the league than Kun. The top 10 list of minutes played:

Dinho – 3464
YaYa – 3368
AGUERO– 3217
Navas – 3118
Merlin – 3096
Mang – 2954
MDM – 2906
Zab – 2766
Vinny – 2755
Kolarov - 2648

MYTH NUMBER 2 - “HE TAKES AGES TO GET BACK TO SPEED WHEN RETURNING

His record of scoring goals quickly when he returns from injury is actually incredibly good.

2013/2014 - he “returned” on 5 occassions after injury or lack of 100% fitness. On 4 of those 5 times he had scored within 90 minutes of play - 43 mins, 45 mins, 17 mins and 89 mins.

The one time he didn’t was when he returned for the last game of the season against West Ham and didn’t score.

2014/2015 – he “returned” 3 times scoring after 9 minutes against Newcastle and 1 minute against Liverpool. His only major blip was the return after the Everton Injury when it took him 319 minutes of playing time before he scored.

2015/2016 - this year it took him 58 minutes (sub against WBA and then Chelsea) before scoring. He then returned after injury against Liverpool and scored after 44 mins.

SO, IN 8 OUT OF his last 10 “returns” he has scored within 90 minutes.

MYTH NUMBER 3 – “OUR RESULTS SUFFER WHEN HE DOESN’T FEATURE"

It’s been 1 year and 10 months since we last lost a game that he didn’t make an appearance. You have to go back to the 0-2 at home against Barcelona in Feb 2014.

Since then he has not made an appearance in 22 games. Our record in those 22 games, all competitions, is Won 18 and Drawn 4.
Sorry mate, but that can't be right. All the experts agree that we are mainly a one man team and no Aguero means no wins! Although we are also a one man team when Kun is in and Kompany is out. Not forgetting that we are a one man team when Silva is out.
If you didn't know better, you might think the experts/pundits didn't know what they were talking about. As if!!!

he did score on his return against Chelsea but in his next 8 (7 starts)city appearances he scored 2 penalties and 0 from open play, you can do anything with stats,
I think he was just unlucky in these games. Imo he was our best offensive player in the majority of those and was brilliant in every part of the game except he didn't score. I think he hit the woodwork three or four times in that period.

He's already seen as one of the greats...arguably third best player in the world currently behind fake Ronaldo and Messi

That argument is getting thinner and thinner with Neymar, Suarez, Lewandowski etc. I think on his day, at full fitness, he's up there but I don't think many non-city fans do and that's because of his stats not matching the others simply because he's so injury prone.

You can't replace a proven goalscorer (and likely to be City's top ever scorer if he stays another 3/4 years) even if he does miss 10 games a season. As undoubtedly good as Lewandowski is he's not proven in the premier league as stupid as that may sound. Everybody though Falcao was the absolute perfect fit for the premier league but he's looked no better than some of the shite City had 9/10 years ago.

There are no guarantees with strikers coming in and to replace the best striker in the league just because he misses the odd few games would be madness.

I get that mate and I agree with it. I did say he's bloody difficult to replace and I can't think who's as good who's available. Aubameyang was mentioned, so was Griezmann.

It's going to be bloody difficult to replace Aguero no matter when that time comes.

I just feel that we need a top striker at the club who's going to be available more often than not, because Aguero's injury record seems to be getting worse. Maybe it's just bad luck, I don't know, but the lack of opportunities we've had this season to field our first 11 has cost us at times, and Aguero and Kompany in particular have been at the heart of that.

Probably as much protecting him from Stoke as it is

Hardly ever ? last season he missed 6 league games and won the golden boot. This season he's had the hamstring and missed a few but this injury a kick on the heel and probably one game missed could happen to anybody anytime. In 4 1/2 seasons he's missed about 42 games so less than 10 a season average. Hardly ever fit, nonsense.
So he's missed roughly a season of games then

You continue to talk bollocks about Aguero and his injury record and his injury record has not cost us in result terms - see my earlier post.

He averages 30 appearances in the league per season and he has hit that number in 3 out of the last 4 seasons. It is very rare for strikers, any striker, to consistently hit 30 games or more in recent years in the Premier League. As an example:

Aguero 3/4
RVP 2/12
Drogba 3/9
Rooney 6/11
Torres 3/8
Tevez 4/7

By coincidence, Rooney's is also the same as the period when he was any good.

West Ham 1-2 (h) - First game back from injury, lacking match sharpness.

Spurs 1-4 (a) - Second game back - still appeared sluggish. Out on his arse second half

Rags 0-0 (a) - Injured, never played

Villa 0-0 (a) - Injured, never played

Liverpool 1-4 (h) - First game back from injury. Subbed after 65 mins 3-1 down as he lacked fitness to last 90 minutes and wasn't in a position to lead us back into the game.

Of course, not every result is purely Aguero's fault, but his fitness record has impacted upon our results this season. And he's not the only one.

Someone needs to do a comparison of games won when Kompany is out of the team. I reckon he's by far our most influential player

Hard to disagree that an in-form Kompany is a huge miss.

Won 3 Lost 3 when he hasn't started.
Won 6 Drawn 2 Lost 0 when he has started.

Last season was compeletely the opposite when with an out of form Komany we didn't lose one single game when he didn't start in the league and our record was W10 D3 L0.
