I wonder if Dax777 is aware that stats without context are just pretty patterns? Such as 5 of those VK matches being the first five when the defence didn't have much to do so less ticks in the stats boxes.

They're different players, they do different things during the matches. The stats don't 'prove' anything.

It all made sense when he said he started supporting City on Aug 15 this year. He's either an A-grade rookie or a Z-class troll.

I guess you didn't read what I wrote. As I already pointed out that part of Kompany's meagre stats is due to simply not having work work defensively and part of it is due to him simply not making plays defensively. So again, you need not worry whether I am aware of context. I already pointed that out.

Every player is a different player from the next, this hasn't stopped us before from choosing who we think is better. Bony is different from Aguero, yet I've never heard anyone argue let's ignore the stats as Aguero and Bony are different players who do different things during the match.

And this silly notion that someone who thinks one City player has been better than another this season, is somehow a wum, simply because a majority have a differing opinion, has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. They both play for City. I like both. I think Of the Otamendi is better. Just like I think Silva is better than Nasri.

You can disagree. Fine. And I've given my reasons for holding this opinion. Strangely, the counter arguments seem to follow a similar pattern:
1. Stats is not everything ( never said it was) but I've also watched the games Otamendi also looks better
2. You are flat out wrong. (A conclusory statement with no basis)
3. We conceded once when Komps was playing ( a point clearly undermined by your truthful claim that we simply had little to do defensively the first few games) Something I by the way pointed out Early
4. You are a fool! (Attacking me and not my argument)
5. YI believe my eyes. Yes I agree. And I believe mine.
6. He is a rookie. Well that's just laughable. Even if it were true, still wouldn't change the facts.

But hey, like everyone else I'm looking forward to Komps coming back to partner Otamendi and power us to a title amongst other great things.

As of today Komps and Ota have both played about 720 minutes THIS SEASON, and here is where they are statistically.

Tackles: Ota 34. Komps 10
Tackles won: Ota 26. Komps 7
Tackles missed: Ota 8. Komp 3
Success%. Ota 76. Komps 70
Interceptions: Ota 23. Komps 13
Fouls committed: Ota 9. Komps 7
Fouled: Ota 13 Komps 2
Clearances: Ota 60. Komps 43
Blocks: Ota 13. Komps 11
Aerial duels: Ota 49. Komps 21
Aerial won: Ota 31. Komps 17
Aerial lost: Ota 18. Komps 4
Aerial%. Ota 63. Komps 80
Pass%. Ota 86. Komps 85
Pass touches. Ota 476. Komps 423
Bad touches Ota 5. Komps 2
Lost possession: Ota 0. Komps 2
Goals: Ota 1 Komps 2

That's the tale of the stats. It's not very close. So far this season, Otamendi has simply been superior. The video show it, and the stats back it up.
How the hell do you conclude this?. The stats appear somewhat contradictory to me However, one thing is very clear Ota seems to be way more durable than Komps touch wood

Conclude that Otamendi has been better tbis season? Mostly from trying to watch without bias. And then my viewing being overwhelmingly supported by the stats.

The stats don't seem contradictory at all to me. It shows a clearly more involved Otamendi in almost every aspect of the game. And definitely in every defensive aspect.
And with the exception of aerial duels, where Komps shows a superior 'rate' of success, Otamendi has won more aerial battles, than Komps has actually attempted. Meaning, even if Kompany had won 100℅ of his headers, he'd still have considerably fewer than Otamendi.

It's glaringly clear Otamendi is simply more involved. and frankly more successful in most areas. Let's not forget as of Sunday, they both had played about 720 minutes of football this season.

But if you see a contradiction feel free to explain.

MP says vinny won't be back until mid December maybe Swansea but no way before

Martin is pretty much done and dusted at the top level. The mangler, whilst I love him and has clear potential, is a bit like a baby elephant that has lost its mother.

Otamendi is a beast and thank fuck we bought him. Some people were head scratching when he walked through the door.

We keep clean sheets when Vinnie plays. But I think it's time. I really do. His injury record is now beyond a concern and is in fact a full on major fucking issue. Our best CB and club captain, but he hardly plays.

A legend, but muscle injuries are a twat to constantly keep recovering from and I think we now need to be looking at replacing him. With Demichelis most likely gone in the summer I think our number 1 priority will be a centre half. Unless they think Denayer will be ready
