What Wilf does, he does well. He holds the ball up far better than Edin did, but what Dzeko did, and does (!), is scores goals. We need more from Wilf and I'm not convinced his game delivers that sort of thing at the highest level. He's had a couple of chances where Edin would have thundered it in, and Bony's allowed them to go begging.

The thing with Bony I think is we have him as a number 9, but he plays almost like a 9.5, and that all of his strength go towards receiving a ball up top, back to goal, then laying off to someone else, much like he's done with Toure a couple of times this season. He's alright as a striker against mid table PL teams, but just can't hack it in Europe.

I dont rate bonny but to say he just cant hack it in europe is a ludicrous statement we have played 1 game for heavens sake!

Not sure what's all the fuss about. How was Silva last night? How about Nasri? Even Kun, or the ginger Wunderkind for the few minutes they played barely connected with the ball.

Bony will prove all of you doubters wrong once he gets a few games in a row when Kun gets injured (again), which unfortunately is inevitable.

He just needs more time.

Looks like you are wearing two pairs of rose tinted specs mate!
I am sorry Bony is nowhere near good enough and He is actually the wrong type of Centre forward in the first place.

I will give Bony a bit more time before judging him particularly with the ball, last night he was up against good defenders and we did not supply him with great ball.
However to me his movement does look a little lacking which makes things easier for the defense and creates less space for other players. He also seems to be less quick to press than some strikers we have had like Aguero, Tevez and Negredo which allows them to play out more easily and results in less turnover ball.

His lack of movement kills us and makes us so easy to defend against. By standing still with his back to goal for 90 minutes, he limits the movements that Sterling, Silva and Nasri/De Bruyne/Navas can make. It results in us playing entirely in front of the opposition, from side to side, with very little in the way of forward runs in behind. If he worked the channels, he would move their defence around, which has the knock on effect of creating space for Sterling and Silva in dangerous areas, as opposed to them having to either go wide or short to find space. We need to move their defensive block around, try to break it. We can't do that with a stupid striker. And it is stupid, the way he's playing, tactically.

People hate to be proven wrong and that is what brings on the constant defence of players in the faint hope they will prove those defending the player right.

List of excuses keep growing

Needs run of games
Injuries
Confidence
Playing against best defence
Getting use to the other players

The only facts the matter and can not be glossed over are

Wilfried Bony - Played 17 - Scored 2

This lad is fucking lethal in front of net though let us not forget he has had and does need

well it is a fair statement if u dont have anything personal against bony. what he should have said is bony is not the type of forward that suits us in CL which is reasonable if u watch mandzukic on the other team who is larger than bony but highly mobile chasing midfielders and fullbacks while also scoring a goal. tell me any other european giants playing with such static strikers. imo bony will be a good player in PL but not so much in CL.

Normally very forgiving but his style of play, whilst an alternative we may need in 2 or 3 games a season, isn't right for the rest of the team. I felt really sorry for him last night and whilst pellers has to give him a chance, the game last night was crying out for sterling up front and kdb on the pitch from the off.
