Players getting clobbered

His intent was to bring the player down, same as Mangala's intent, his execution was poor, Magala's wasn't. That's what I'm on about.
Sorry mate if you have played at any level you know the difference. If someone spins you and you bring them down for a 'professional' foul you nick their ankle. Mangala did this in the second half. You don't go knee high. There is no need to go knee high.
He's done him intentionally all day long. Players know the difference ad Kun was certainly making that point.

Was a sending off but i'm not having all the "he deliberately tried to injure him" comments. He deliberately tried to foul, i don't believe he deliberately tried to injure him. Mangala did the same thing second half it just wasn't as dangerous.

His intention was to do Sergio it was violent and knee high the knee is the most vunerable part of the lower limb, Managalas tackle was no higher than a normal tackle whe going for the ball ( if it was there of course) both professional fouls. One dangerous one not

In baseball the players deal with this. If a pitcher throws at a player your pitcher puts a fastball into the back of their best player. I was impressed with the physical response from our players but it was too late. Aguero was already out. To keep this from happening teams need to know that we will target their best player and be willing to trade a red for a De Jong style tackle.

Unless I am going blind, he wasn't the last man.
I've watched the game again and agree that Dann wasn't the last man There were a couple of other players over on the right of the pitch - he should have seen RED for the cynical hacking at Kun's legs.

Yes, I had remembered that Samir got seriously injured by a player whose manager was Pardew. We just need to give his teams a bloody nose whenever we meet them.

Also Mongala? did a professional/ridiculous foul and got a yellow.. so it was consistent. Sergio wasn't clean through 10 yards in his own half. Yellow was right.

No Dann was only trying to smash his kneecap! Should be looking at 3 game ban minimum.

The week we play Newcastle is also the week that Mitrovic returns from his suspension. That lad loves kicking players up in the air or as Lee Cattermole would call it, a fair challenge for the ball.

Bollocks. That was years ago, in the days of McNab and Sourness. There is too much at stake now and it was credit to us that we did not take the De jong approach (as much as I liked De Jong, but even that was before we could beat any side with football ability given the chance to do it) If we took that approach yesterday and went to 10 men we would not have won that match

spot matey
he was only thinking am taking you out and could easy have finished aguero career its was that bad and you know it was bad when other players start to kick off it should be red and the FA should change it to a 6 game ban

They knew a weak ref was in charge and this made it more likely that they would attempt something like this. The ball was a yard in front of Kun when Dann hacked at his knee, Jones gave him a yellow without thinking nor consulting linesmen. The FA have the power to look at this, despite the yellow card, as it was a clear assault but of course they won't. To compare its with Mango's tackle is ridiculous as he at least attempted a tackle, just he was too far away. With Pardew's history iris clear his MO

I know the difference. Aguero spun away from Dann so quick that he didn't have time to nick his ankle, he lunged at him but I don't think anyone can say with any certainty that his intention was to catch him so high, for me it was a clumsy tackle and like I said earlier in the thread he could have no complaints if he'd been given red for it.

The problem with a tackle like Dann's is that it fires everyone else up.

If Dann's was a red card (for dangerous play, not DOGSO) - and I think it was - then Yaya's tackle three minutes later was also - and I think that was too.

But nobody is telling me that either (a) if Jones had done his job properly and shown Dann the red that Yaya would have been diving in like that, or that (b) if Dann hadn't clattered Sergio in the first place that Yaya would still have gone steaming in like that for a ball on the touchline 40 yards from our goal with other blue shirts around providing cover.

You can understand that the referee doesn't want to send a home player off with three quarters of the game still left (and probably guarantee the result at that stage) but FFS that's his job. He is there to referee the game, not to see that each team keeps 11 players on the pitch no matter what.

Two red cards not given, two clear penalties not given - not exactly a barnstorming performance in terms of the game-changing decisions. The only good thing to say is that he was as bad for Palace as he was for us.

At the end of the day, playing on the edge, is the best tactic against City, especially as we have so many players who react or retaliate.
United will definitely try it in a few weeks, and don't be too surprised if we have a player sent off against Juventus for an act of petulance.

The ball never left the turf and was at least a yard or two past him, yet Dann kicks Sergio in the knee. Even if the ball was still there, it wasn't on his fucking knee. Cowardly challenge. Hopefully karma strikes him down.

I'm not sure where he's coming from and it gets repetitive but this is hilarious!
