Players we have made a profit/loss on

Joe Hart and Micah Richards. If sold would make us massive profit - also VK

Special mention to SWP for who we sold for £21m and bought back for £10m.

sold for 25 bought back for 8..

But we're not a selling club! Villa, The Stretford Red Sox, Arse etc are selling clubs. They sell their players on at profit to fund new signings or reduce debt. We don't need to. There are a number of our players we could currently sell on as a profit but we won't because we need them. The ones we do sell on are unwanted and hence go for less than we paid. It's common sense. We have to pay over the odds for some players because the clubs we're buying from don't want to sell so we need to prize them away by offering over the market price. If we only paid the market price then the selling club wouldn't sell because they'd have to pay the same amount to replace them. It's basic economics. Very few teams at the top table of spending sell players at a profit. Look at Barca with Ibra!

-- Wed Sep 01, 2010 11:33 am --

Not sure what the figure we bought him back for was but it was deffo £21m
I think we sold at £21m and bought back at £12m to be honest. That's still £9m profit. We wouldn't be selling the likes of SWP these days though, see above ;)

Did we make a profit on Niall Quinn when we sold him to Sunderland? I know we signed him for £800k, but not sure what fee (if any) we got for him.

May have been a small profit. Did we sell him for a mill or so?

Ishmael Miller to West Brom??

I think we made a loss when we sold Anelka to Fenerbache.

That was a disgraceful bit of business. £7 million was it? For a top centre forward who was in his prime. Even bolton outdid us big tiem with Anelka. They knew he was going so they signed him up on a new contract and sold him for a decent price not long after.
