If Zab is going - as seems likely - then I'm sure he will get the send-off he deserves against both West Brom at home and Watford away.
We can't release every senior full back at the club in one go.
Probably safe to assume we won't see the big hitters, currently out on loan, in a City shirt again (Hart, Nasri, Bony, Mangala, lesser degree Denayer). Feels like we'll lose a full back from each side (Zab and Clichy). Just those 6 is a large chunk off the wage bill. Can maybe add Fernando and Willy to that list too, to swell the savings, and Nolito looks certain to head back to Spain.
Yaya is a tricky one. 8/10 months ago I think we'd have all been happy to see him depart, but after apologising and putting aside his differences he's been a decent asset for the squad. Obv he's past his best now, but with question marks over Gundogan's long term fitness, I think Yaya is worth another year. He still frustrates, sometimes slows the game down and is allergic to tracking players, but my god can he still control certain games from the middle of the park. His passing qualities and ball retention will be hard to replace.
Navas has shown that he can fill in reasonably well at right back (dependent on opposition), so can understand giving him one more year. Ditto, keeping Kolarov for next season for similar reasons (again dependent on opposition but his passing skills and range from centre half are a big plus vs teams parking the bus)
Delph feels 50/50. Thought he played well in the couple of games he started recently, but then the old problems of niggling injuries surface. His homegrown status might work in his favour and make it more 60/40 he won't be moved on.
If the above happened, and leaving out youngsters/potential new signings, it leaves us with a senior squad of...
Bravo
Sagna
Otamendi
Stones
Kompany
Kolarov
Navas
Dinho
Delph
Silva
Gundogan
KDB
Yaya
Sane
Sterling
Jesus
Aguero
Nacho
Fits with the Pep module of using a small squad. Kinda feel there might be a surprise exit or 2 on the cards, certainly brace ourselves for an eventful summer!
Would be inclined to snap their hands off if they offered 25m. We overpaid massively for Mangala and have to be prepared to take a big hit to move him on.If Newcastle are prepared to offer in the region of £30to £35millon for the pair I would take it. However I think they would be looking to do it on the cheap with an offer of about £25millon for the pair, which is fair to cheap for both of them.
Offer Zaba a new 2yr deal and put him through his coaching badges but tell him that his game time will be limited to the domestic cup comps only.
Given Delph's horrendous injury record, I imagine we will consider offers for him in the summer.
When does Fernando's contract run out?
I will be astonished if Fernando is still here next season. The lad has barely played this season and just isn't good enough for where Pep wants to take us, even as a back-up.
Same applies to Delph.
