If we give them a reasonable (market value) fee, and chuck in a kid who needs the experience, we would not be neutering them, it's mutual trade, just like any transfer between two clubs - it's not like they have to do what we say, they are to an extent independent, and they could reject an offer if they feel it's not in their best interest. The only deal that CFG has created for them is the David Villa loan and that really did no harm, even if he didn't have an amazing impact...

Taking away one of their best players and a fan favourite, it'd be doing them more harm than good. They don't need money, they have the same owners as us! Also there is not a chance he would get a game here, Iheanacho is significantly better than him.

The Melbourne City fans are realistic about their position. They don't like being the runt of the CFG litter but they know that the A-League will never be a world league and that clubs like theirs have to sell because they can't keep stars forever and their clubs rely on any cash they can get. They would be upset to see him leave but they begrudgingly know that if he wants to move on they can't resist. However, they would only accept it if they got a good price for him and he got the move he wanted. If CFG transferred him between their clubs on the cheap then they'd be furious. So too would they be if he moved to Manchester only to sit on the bench here. They'd only accept the move if it were right for Bruno and for Melbourne City.

Agreed about Iheanacho. It's also worth noting that Bruno has been at a few clubs including Sampdoria and Panathanaikos and at the majority of his clubs he's struggled to score more than a handful of goals. I think he's one of those players who has to be in the right place to thrive, and I don't reckon he would be a surefire thing here.

Have to disagree about the money though. Melbourne City need all the cash they can get. CFG are refusing to splash the cash there as they are saying that they're finding there's too little ability to make return on investment. There's a strong line of thought among the fans (who, praise be, actually support CFG on this one) that they are doing it as a ploy to force FFA to open up extra lines of commercialisation into what is a very restrictive and authoritarian league but right now CFG are point blank refusing to spend any more than they earn in revenue in Melbourne. That's why they have no big names at the club - even though the league is reportedly begging them to do all the hard work by recruiting the world stars in order to promote the league for them.

Anyway, long story short - CFG need all the cash they can get - and selling players (when necessary) is part of that.
