Players who might improve us

Maybe we were wrong to let Denayer go...?
I might be coming across harshly here but I really wasn't impressed with him too much; Sterling gave him all kinds of problems. Given how defensive they were I'm not sure that's a good look.

And if I recall correctly, he was filmed kicking a man in the head in a street fight. Not sure he is the kind of guy rhe club wants playing here.

After our losses this season, and again early exit from the CL, I think we need:

- Apart from Aké, an additional two CBs. One would have been enough if Garcia stayed but he’s off and I don’t trust Stones even as fourth choice. I want him gone.
Koulibaly and either a young prospect from europe or from our academy.

- A left back to compete with Mendy. No more leftbacks who don’t know how to defend (Zinchenko, Angelino). I really like Tagliafico from Ajax and I think he’s available quite cheap.

- A young, hungry and aggressive defensive midfielder. I’m not saying Rodri was a mistake but I’m not sure what his role is in our team. He’s a holding mid but he doesn’t have the speed to chase down the opposition when they counter, and he rarely put in a slide tackle to win back the ball. I want Bennacer from Milan. Young, strong, fast and a fantastic ballwinner. I’d say he would be just perfect.

That’s it really. All other positions are fine. Torres will join the attack, Foden steps in after David.

i don’t agree. We already have loads of players like the ones mentioned above - felix, havertz. Signing the same type of players isn’t going to change anything.

we need leaders, players who have a bit of aggression and bite to them. Even getting rid of fern means losing another one
It has little bro do with aggression. Dihno has been a great player for the club. But he is no leader. Just an elder. That too applies to Dave.

We need players who are athletic and who can take players on. Difference makers. Yes, Foden is one of those. But we don't have loads of those, or if we do, Pep sure wasn't playing them yesterday.

Aggression at the back? Sure! Skill and intensity going forward.. Necessary.

Our biggest problem this season was the defence we never felt solid enough i think that was the reason why Pep sacrifice our style to a more conservative approach against Lyon, we always tend to commit simple mistakes that leads us to failure and that is what separate us from a CL semi final , if we play like we normally do we can easily create 20 + chances per match wich is enough to any player to score , i think Koulibaly might improve us a lot he might bring that defensive leadership that we miss at the bigger moments.

I personally think you've cracked it with your first sentence. I'd extend the point though to much of the season, and not just Lyon.

Even Maldini can't save us when we are defending like that.

With this system, we need to sign Adama Traore and use him as CB along with Walker.

Diop from West Ham is apparently available, don't remember him standing out against us in particular. Seems to have the physical attributes we are looking for though, already used to the prem and him being in a poor team/defence shouldn't hinder a move (Ake).

I do rate him as a defender but I think he's a bit of a mismatch for us. If he was strong with the ball at the feet he'd actually be perfect at playing our high line too I reckon.
