I can maybe see it because they've backed themselves into a corner with Mbappe. If they don't get him how do the fans react? If PSG force him out for say 250m they need to find that somewhere and really quickly.They would be mad to let him go. I'd take valverde too but he'd make more sense to play rodrygos role alongside mbappe and vini if it happened.

Rodri our most played player, anyone happy with his back ups? Does anyone think his backups will improve this year to challenge him? That is why we should buy Khephren Thuram, he is not as good as Rodri but at least he would challenge him and reduce the injury risk, as Rodri has played over 200 games since joining us rarely getting subbed.

Really don’t know why we didn’t go for Maddison at that price. About as consistent an attacking midfielder as you get over the past 5 years.

As great as Walker signing a new contract is, he’s not gonna be around forever so I think we should get a young replacement in who can shadow Walker to then take up the mantle as our future RB.
One guy that I think really fits the bill and is as close to Walker stylistically is Ivan fresneda.

I would be fine with if it were not for the fact that Ivan fresneda has a good chance of being snapped up by a club this window. A profile like Walker is very difficult to find and fresneda would be the closest so I think we should take the chance and get him. Who knows? We might once Laporte and Cancelo leave.I think you're completely right, but I think that will be a priority next summer rather than this time.
We can shift Akanji as the Central CB rotation with Dias, which is the position he’s been playing recently anyways and get fresneda in as rotation for Walker.
So like:
RB: Walker/Fresneda
CB: Dias/Stones/Akanji/Ake/Gvardiol
LB: Ake/Gvardiol
We would be set for the present and future and have enough depth to not worry about our back line again.
