There is no scenario in which Arteta and Edu would be open to swapping Sterling for Martinelli. Sterling is turning 28 this year and is the kind of player who when he loses those yards of pace the decline will be steep.

Martinelli is 21 has all those years ahead oh him, great chance to make the Brazil World Cup squad and I reckon he will crack the first 11. I would go as far to say he is our best player and his glass ceiling is really high. If there is a player who is as capable of hitting the Thierry Henry heights, its Martinelli. Still 21 so his final product can be lacking a little, but ghosts past players at will - TAA and Cancelo got the run around, albeit no assists or goals in those defeats to Liverpool and yourselves. Given his quality and work ethic, he will mature and get better.

There are plenty of scenarios that could see Martinelli leave, project Arteta has had its ups & downs, no champions league football is the biggest threat you face though, not to mention you have sold players to ‘All’ your rivals over the last 10-15 years. Patrick Vieira didnt join Man City from Arsenal. As for the 5 players who made the switch, only Nasri hurt. The other four were so replaceable, and in Adebayors case, he was actually sold - he even spoke about it. Wenger coming into the changing room telling him a bid has been accepted from Man City, he was completely blindsided by it. One of the most toxic players to have ever graced our club. Nothing to brag about paying 25m to take him of our hands, we thank you for it

More to the point. My argument was Arsenal would never swap Martinelli for Sterling. As to your point, project Arteta is coming together. Many young players in the first teams (Ramsdale 23, Tomiyasu 22, White 24, Tierney,24, Saka, 20, Martinelli 21, Odegaard 22, ESR 21. Only Partey, Lacazette and Xhaka are first team players over the age of 24. Lacazette and Xhaka will be leaving this season to so they will need to be replaced. We will need to sign about 4-5 net players in the summer window.

I am singerly confident Saka and Martinelli will sign contract extensions as seasons end. And if we have a transfer window like last season, I am confident we could aim for 3rd next season given the Chelsea turmoil, with the aim to get within 10 points of yourselves and City - target between 80-85 points. It can be done with a top striker.

There’s no point sending a bid to Ajax if he’s decided to go to Bayern. With only one year left on his contract it’s up to the player where he goes. Ajax can only decide if it’s this year or next.

If we wanted him I assume we made enquiries with Raiola but couldn’t match what Bayern offered.

There’s no point sending a bid to Ajax if he’s decided to go to Bayern. With only one year left on his contract it’s up to the player where he goes. Ajax can only decide if it’s this year or next.
