I love Smit. But if we are getting Anderson we are not going to get him. There is a limit to who we can acquire and logic suggests acquiring Anderson closes that door for at least 2 years.I agree with many of the posters on here (and as it seems, the club) that Guéhi, Anderson and Semenyo would be an ideal trio of players to supplement the squad we currently have (despite having some reservations over Semenyo).
That said, here are 11 players I think we should keep an eye on if we find ourselves with a need for a player in their positions, as I think these players are ready to explode over the next year or 2:
Noah Atubolu, 23, GK, Freiburg
Givairo Read, 19, RB, Feyenoord
Yann Aurel Bisseck, 25, CB, Inter Milan
Ryan Flamingo, 22, CB, PSV Eindhoven
Diego Moreira, 21, LB/LW, Strasbourg
Anton Stach, 27, DM, Leeds United
Jack Rudoni, 24, CM/AM, Coventry City
Kees Smit, 19, AM, AZ Alkmaar
Maghnes Akliouche, 23, RW/AM, Monaco
Ruan Pablo, 17, LW, Bahia
Georges Mikautadze, 25, ST, Villarreal
with special attention paid to Givairo Read and Kees Smit, who I think will be superstars.
What a load of SmitI love Smit. But if we are getting Anderson we are not going to get him. There is a limit to who we can acquire and logic suggests acquiring Anderson closes that door for at least 2 years.
Read i can, definitely see coz there is a need for an athletic fullback to backup and later depose Nunez
As for Smit, my sense is we'd simply have to buy him when he is near world class and at a premium. He'd end up at Palace or Newcastle now and if he becomes dominant in 2 years we'd pay the equivalent of 100 million to get him then
But right now, we have Rodri, Foden, Gonzalez Reijnjers, Cherki, and potentially Anderson. Thats 6 players for potentially 3 positions. Not to mention Lewis who will also potentially get minutes there.
We need 2-3 years ( i.e for Rodri to and perhaps Reinjders to age out or move on before we have space for a new player.
Now if he is World Class in 2 years, we'd make the space. But we wont do it for potential.
We are an Anderson acquisition away from another 5 year run with settled players in midfield.
Get world class players in as early as possible. Smit looks the real deal from the little I've seen of him.I love Smit. But if we are getting Anderson we are not going to get him. There is a limit to who we can acquire and logic suggests acquiring Anderson closes that door for at least 2 years.

I'm really worried about his viability going forward. What is it that we are not seeing or being made aware of? Does his contract situation enter into any of this? Just wondering.I know how sad just weeks after winning footballs biggest individual honour he’s crocked
He doesn’t rely on pace so I’m hoping he makes it back but who knows it’s a big injury
I agree. But sometimes if they are not ready when 6ou get them and you have world class senior players ahead of them ( Foden, Cherki), they end up not getting enough game time and leaving for somewhere for more playing time. This happened to Kev and Mo Salah. It wasnt as id Chelsea didn't know they had WC potential. But they had Ballack, Essien, Lampard, and Makalele in the team.Get world class players in as early as possible. Smit looks the real deal from the little I've seen of him.
You're clearly not smitten with him. What a load of Smit
Takes 2 years to be clear of complications from an ACL. After that you’re probably as good as you’re gonna be health wise for your ACL assuming you followed your recovery program. You’re likely to pick up hamstring injuries or issues in the 18 months after the surgery. That’s what’s happened with Rodri. Doesn’t mean he will pick up another but he will be susceptible to them in the short term. If he has an impact this year then that’s a bonus.I'm really worried about his viability going forward. Well, I'm smitten by himWhat a load of Smit
AZ Alkmaar midfielder Kees Smit is ready to join Real Madrid next summer and become the fourth signing for Los Blancos after Nico Paz, Manex Rezola and Guille Gonzalez, according to a Spanish report, as the youngster’s recent comments about leaving come to lightGet world class players in as early as possible.
