Players who might improve us

Agreed, but I'd say we need a top class left back more than a right back.

Would you say, that Cancelo is not the perfect guy as left back? I think we won´t do any further transfers, tomorrow would be the last chance.

I'd be more comfortable with four fullbacks. It doesn't mean Cancelo can't play LB, it just means we have a left footed fullback specialist & genuine cover in case of injuries.

We saw how badly being short of defensive cover cost us at the end of last season.

- A tricky, pace-using winger.
- A quality young right-back.
- A future Bernardo replacement.

Next year's shopping list for sure. The dream set is Leao, Reece-James, and Bellingham/De Jong.
Kolo Muani is also a good shout, his a CF but plays very well on the wings, his tricky, electric fast, brilliant baller and he would definitely help with our squad depth and we would still maintain a high quality squad. His a killer, him with haaland, Foden and Alvarez would bring nightmares to any team

Okay yes, I agree with that, but I don`t think, that there will something happen today. But for the left we have Cancelo and Gomez, on the right Walker and Lewis, not fully perfect.

That's all good at home versus Forest, but once we're deep into the season with games piling up & playing the PL/CL elite teams, having to rely on 17 year old Lewis & 21 year old Gomez is risky business.

Hypothetically if both Canelo & Walker were out & we had to play The Dippers at Anfield, I could see Stones/Philips/Akanji playing RB, & Aké/Laporté playing left, ahead of us trusting Lewis & Gomez.

That's the point I'm making... Cancelo the RB is our big game LB choice, with Gomez still yet to prove himself. We still don't have an experienced top class left footed specialist LB to call upon for the biggest games if we suffer a squad loss.

This is when we start trying to fit square pegs into round holes, by playing CB's as FB's. I'd just rather not take the risk. A senior LB & a top class Left Winger is all we need to complete our squad imo...

Don´t we need a second right-back? Also a winger with good skills and pace would be a good signing too. What are your thoughts about this two positions?
We already have two of the former (Cancelo/Walker) but evidently could not get a left-back at a reasonable price. Indeed, we basically managed to get Phillips and Gomez for the price Cucurella could yet reach. Quite astute in those circumstances.

I don’t think there is a left-footed winger that has blistering pace and is good enough to push for our starting eleven. In truth, I’ve got more hope of Carlos Borges (prodigious talent) coming through our system and meeting that need.

Currently, Haaland is proving such a handful that he’s sometimes occupying two centre halves, which in turn means that there is more space outside and in the channels for our other players to exploit, and that extra space means they don‘t really require pace as they can pass it around them.
