Players who might improve us

Rather than waiting a season or more to source a foreign superstar to come and replace Sergio at great cost of course, why not make a cheeky bid for young Mr Armstrong at Blackburn in January. He is a goalscorer unlike our other apparent strikers. I think he would score a fair few in our team.
We'd soon have him passing sideways.

I'm sure I'll get pelters for this. Deli Alli is undoubtedly a ****, but I do think we are too nice sometimes. Wouldn't mind seeing a nastier streak.
Probably affordable given his drop down Spuds pecking order, and wonder if he'd do better in our system.
Like I say I'm sure I'll get slaughtered and it's all hypothetical, but I do miss the mean streak we had.

Ivan Toney far superior

You can be a **** if you play for spurs, no one says anything. He would have 20+ game ban every season if he played for us.

Another good call, If we cannot get Haaland or similar this Jan, Why not take a punt on a player like either I refuse to believe either would be less effective in front of goal than what we have, Might save a fortune in the long term.
Unfortunately you can no longer take a punt, hes going to cost 20/30m like Watkins did for Villa. If it backfires its 30m down the drain, go back 10yr ago and you could get someone like him for 10m and at that price its worth a go.

Watkins looks like a great piece of scouting from Villa.
Yeah, I thought he was a good signing. Brentford are a great platform for players to get a move. Toney is definitely going to be the next one.

Playing for Villa rather than City however is a completely different game.

people may disagree, but this young lad could in my opinion be the david silva influence we need, take him on an initial loan until the end of the season ,with an option to buy, win win

Are we Burnley or Manchester City?

Do explain? Are you suggesting that a player from a lower division in this country is below Manchester City? Does any striker we sign simply have to come from top flight club with a couple of seasons goal scoring at the level under his belt? Not interested unless he is from Brazil, or Argentina.....

I agree we are Manchester City and not Manchester United supporters where such self entitlement is the norm.

Is it sensible to suggest buying a striker from the Championship albeit whose scored a lot of goals to replace the best striker we've ever had never mind the best in the league for the majority of the time he's been here? The number of times we've bought 4 average players compared to 2 brilliant players in the last few years has shown that when we buy we need to buy smart. No self-entitlement intended but we needed a solid centre back before we signed dias and we went and got him, we separately need another world-class striker so we need to do the same.

Youre gonna need a bigger boat.

Ah now I agree with much of that.

However given we are where we are with strikers currently and unless Sergio does get fully fit and give us pretty much an unbroken run of him at his best then I can see us winning nowt this season and a top 4 place should be a very long way from being taken for granted. Should Sergio not return all guns blazing or indeed break down with another injury we will have a proble in my view. The current lot will not score enough neither Jesus nor Sterling, Delap perhaps not considered quite ready to be relied on to score those goals.

We need to do something in January and whilst I agree we should be aiming to sign the best such as Haaland or even Mbappe the reality is that to do so this January might be impossible if indeed there would be any interest from either to come here at any point. There does not seem at the moment to be many obvious strikers likely available that we could get in January? If this is the case then for the right price I would see it as sensible to take a punt on the likes of Armstrong because he clearly can do what Sterling and Jesus cannot, and that is hit the back of the net. Infact given thats his forte he may well benefit from the things that Sterling and Jesus are good at and they benefit from having a striker who can finish. A gamble I grant you but unless there is a big signing in the pipeline for January, surely one worth taking, not to mention It would be likely such a player would see his value increase for having been here even if it didnt work out quite as hoped?

I heard the training ground needs a new coat stand.

He's perfect.....the right age,the right attitude and ability,a decent physique,and a great engine/physicality.

He's also Prem proven.
Don't think he would cost as much as Zakaria but it seems Zakaria is more of a box to box midfielder while Bissouma is a Dinho - DM type. A dream summer transfer would be Luiz in, Gundo out and either one of Zakaria/Bissouma to replace Dinho, a natural winger and a quality striker.
