Players who might improve us

I’ve always liked the look of this lad. Not sure what he offers going forwards but I would agree he is very solid defensively.

He is a fantastic defender for his age and position.
The price tag would only be worth it if Pep + staff thought they could improve his offensive ability.

Palace got 45M + 5M in add-ons for Wan-Bissaka in 19
I have to assume they will ask for the same if not more for Mitchell in todays transfer climate.

He is likely not worth that, and a "foreign" option will probably be better for money.

Are the arse trying to beat the new rules for contract lengths as they are now chasing Caceido from Brighton this month? Having already spent a huge sum in the summer and signing I think 3 this window as well they are rumored to want 2-3 more? Any reason why they are doing all their shopping now?

about as attack minded as Ake.

about as attack minded as Ake.
Have to assume part of his attacking numbers being lower is because of playing for Palace.
Especially under Hodgson for his first two professional seasons.
I do agree that he isn't the attacking wingback type like Mendy / Cancelo / Danilo / Walker who Pep has looked to buy in the past.

Probably a non starter.

Completely agree but if whatever the issue is gets fixed and he’s back to his best and stays he keeps out a lot of players, especially the one my reply was about.
I don't think he was that mentality, hence the number of clubs he's played for, on his day a top player but he was always had a weird character for me, not a player I could take to.

Because they are top of the league and want to stay there I'd imagine!

In the last three summers, we have bought players from teams that either went down or were close to going down (Phillips, Grealish, Ake). Could be complete coincidence, of course, but it might be an idea to keep an eye on the teams near the bottom to see if we become linked with one of their better players.

true mate but over a £300m spend in a season roughly if they get who they want? Caceido is gonna be £70m plus alone?

They've spent a fortune for a number of years. Arsenal are probably even better than Liverpool at playing the poverty card. They've thrown more cash around than anyone, just on absolute shite. Yet I heard someone talk about how cheap their front three was the other day, and what excellent investments they've made. Ignore Pepe, Ozil, Aubameyang etc.

Arteta is turning things around with solid investments and has turned players like Xhaka around ("players like" because he's literally the only one).

Ultimately the squad isn't good enough to compete on all fronts. They're going to be in the CL next season so they need to improve further, and you might as well go for it this window when you're top of the league. If City hadn't won it for 20 years and had some cash, we'd want the same if there were obvious weaknesses in the squad. Even if it doesn't pay off this season, their investments are longer term.

It's also a good time to strike because players out there will see that PL winners medal and probably be all over that move.

all true mate but slightly frustrating that we dont want to sort our obvious weakness of LB out asap?

Didn't take Howe long to realise he is a headless chicken and if they want any chance at top 6 and a cup they need a team of grafters. Not someone who is best suited to skill school.

He's better than that. Unpredictable though - both in good and bad ways I guess.
