Come summer, Barcelona will be in no stronger a position to take him than they were last season, and Benfica can only afford him if he’s used in a deal for Neves. Would they not prefer the money and would we not prefer another year of Bernardo? He’s a hostage to his contract (summer 2026) and circumstances, so unless something shifts and he forces his way out, which would be wholly out of character, I expect him to be here again next year.

I don't see any way in which Bernardo stays, the release clause added last summer was for a reason.

Neves is a good player but, in my mind, unlikely to be capable of directly replacing Rodri in our current style of play, certainly not domestically. In that case, I’m not then sure that he would have the creativity to play further up the park, so he would be harder to accommodate.
