Players who might improve us

Yes, i know. That's why I've wanted him for ocsr a year. But in light of thoae already signed and what else is needed...where does he play...

Lets build it out...

Im assuming all the oldies are gone ( that's not guaranteed) but lets assume they are - Kev, Berny and Silky - Gone

We have Haaland up top

Marmoush and Phil as the attacking 8 ( i.e the Kev role. But with more scoring and less creating)... That's potentially the Baena role

If we are in attack mode my sense is we play both. But against tough teams we drop one and play a Central 8 ( the Gundo/Bernado role). I think we want someone with more sterl going forward ( i e someone who can play six too. ( An Guimaraes, Ederson, Baleba, Nico Gonzalez type player) I.e technical but with some steel.

I dont see Baena in that role. Which means he plays outside (inverted) - With Savihno, Doku, Bobb, Nunes already in the mix and thats not even considering Jack.

For me, its becoming hard to see where a Baena, Wirtz or Musiala type would fit. And these ard all potentially huge talents.

But i could be wrong.... Perhaps things would clear up and some players wouldn't make the leap. But at present, i can only see an opening for a true CM

Depends how pep sets up, a better inverting FB into DM would give the option to have 2 attacking CMs in the mix or one wide so the LW or RW becomes an attacking 8.

Sure there are options if we wanna be greedy about it, dont see Jack or Nunes surviving the rebuild along with the old heads.

In possession, I'm going with this XI as one of the options available:

Right side of the pitch to left side (I guess a 2-3-5? In attack)

Eddie/Ortega
Khusanov - Dias (not the best in terms of playing out or making line breaking passes but it'll do)
Cambiosa - Rovella/Ederson/whoever - Gvardiol
Savio/Bobb - Foden - Baena
Haaland - Marmoush


Now one thing I will say. Not just to you Dax but just in general. Just because a guy plays in a certain position for their current team, it doesn't really mean they will play the same position here. City scouts certain traits, characteristics and profile for players.

As for current players, I expect Jack and likely Nunes to be allowed to move on in the summer. Doku, Savio and Bobb are real good talents but there is a question mark with all of them due to still being a bit unproven.

Baena's profile is something, I feel we need especially if Kevin leaves. Excellent creation stats and we need to build the team around Haaland. Better crossers and playmakers.

For "true" CMs, I agree there is a need. A profile of Vitinha and Reijnders would be welcome.
 
If the Club moves Grealish and KDB then someone like Baéna would be perfect. Musiala and Wirtz will stay at their club for the next 2 years I guess.
All the club would need is a better CM next to Rodri unless we play Bernardo there in case he stays.
