Players you didn’t realise how good they were or appreciated them until they left.

Ian Bowyer. He ran like he had two left feet and looked totally ungainly.

He had a few decent games but was never really appreciated by the support at City. Brian Clough made him a world beater at Forest.

Stan Bowles was a similar case.
He scored a couple of good headers for us though.

Always rated Mahrez and Barry so it would be Cancelo for me.
I know it turned sour at the end and i was not fussed when he left but looking back at some old highlights i would say i did not appreciate him before the fall out.

I suspect that, even now, I still don't appreciate how good David Silva was. And at the time, I finally considered him to be the best player that I'd ever seen in a sky blue shirt. But he's probably better than that.
But only the distance that time gives will burnish him with his full lustre.

Agreed on Mahrez.

I also don’t think Kolarov was as appreciated by some corners of our fanbase as much as he deserved.
only.on here hace I,ever heard negatives about mahrez,,he was well apreciated and loved by every blue I have met, only this place was full of idiots giving him a shite nickname unused anywhere else.

As for Kolarov being in the SSL corner he played on I could witness the soft fucker bottling challenges many a time, I still loved him though.

Just been watching 4peat about our 4 in a row last season.- Probably already mentioned on here (haven’t looked back in the thread) - but the player we really miss is Alverez. His all round contribution & goals (including corners & free kicks) were invaluable. We didn’t need the cash - why did we let him go. I know Pep says that if anyone suggests they want to go then they can - but sometimes we should stand firm, especially if we’ve no plan for a replacement. We don’t miss Palmer but Alverez worked tirelessly & was altogether a great guy.
