Playing Queen's "We are the Champions"

I'm not a fan either but it's a really recognisable song for anyone whether you're an FOC, not from these shores or an 8 year old kid so I get why it's played.

I can't stand the Hey Jude thing though.

There are plenty of song by Manchester bands that could be played so they should probably stick to those.
Not sure only singing songs based on Manchester bands songs is a great idea, it would mean scrapping just about every song we have. Plus most Manchester bands are pretty shit. :) light touch paper and stand back.

The 2011 FA Cuo celebration party at the Etihad was kicked off by Badly Drawn Boy singing the Smiths classic Please Please Please. That just felt a lot more City - a bit cooler a bit more introspective.

Certainly better than trying to impose a sort of enforced jollity on everyone by pumping out Status Quo at an ear splitting volume
Nail. Head.

As soon as I hear it, I have flashbacks to rags dominance in the 90s, what next you never walk alone before the CL final!
Well the current champions league Heineken advert is that. I might have imagined this or I am going mutton but, pretty sure the sound is turned down when it’s played at The Etihad. I saw the actual advertisement before one of our away ties and managed to turn the sound off just in time.

I think the point is to have a dig at the rags use of it, the DJ used to do stuff like play one step beyond after beating Chelsea. Or its just on the champions spotify playlist they left on the Etihad aux lead.

Although old Freddie could certainly sing, I can't say I have strong feelings either way about the song or the band. So many sports teams will have used it over the years as a 'victory song' I can't say I immediately associate it with the Rags either.
At least we didn't have to endure that awful jazz band playing 90s dance 'classics' they had one year when we won the league.
Oh and going back further when we won the Lge Cup in 76 at Wembley they played 'Congratulaions' by bloody Cliff .
Best song I've heard at City in recent years was when we used to come out to Spread Your Love by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
Really should have played that on Sunday as we're 'spreading the love' to our bitter red shirted friends and our media pals too aren't we !!!
