Please Don't Ever Criticize Our Support Again

109 was full of faces I haven't seen before.

Some just didn't seem interested, some were more bothered about giving the away fans shit, which they weren't very vocal about unless stood behind someone.

Was a shit atmosphere.

And Liverpool didn't sell there allocation, lets stop saying that ey?

No fan should ever be made to pay over £25 for any game IMO.

I wish I was there in the days when an FA Cup Finals ticket was 80p, they respected fans then.

Are you also harking back to your £3 a week wages and 3 day week? Sure prices have rose over the years above inflation, but those kind of statements are just pointless.

As for the atmosphere, I was in 119/120 and it was one of the worst I've ever experienced. Me and a few other lads trying to sing, zilch joining in. There was one lad further towards the front who was also trying and that was literally it. Gave up eventually, completely dispiriting. I was in the same area of the stand as the derby.
I was in 119 near the front, blimey it was hard going, a few tried to get it going but compared to the rags atmosphere!!!
I tried my best anyway!!

Slight change of subject, but here is a facebook 'discussion' I've just had regarding attendances etc. My status and then people commenting below.

Paul Merson - "Man City have lost four of their last eight games and they should be panicking like mad about the way things are going" - no mention of the circumstances of those defeats and the fact two of those were in cup competitions (still top of the league by 3 points)
"The other issue is all the empty seats. They were playing the semi-final of a cup against Liverpool - still one of the biggest clubs in football - and it seems like their supporters are getting a bit complacent. I couldn't believe that place wasn't full" - nothing to do with complacency or the fact we were playing Liverpool (what a stupid comment). How about £80 for 2 tickets in the space of 3 days you crackhead.

Richard Thomas ‎...especially as this is your inaugural year at the top; fans should be chomping to watch games!

Josh Cohen Old Trafford is always full because you've had glory since Sky invented football in 1992. We've not had success for decades and even in the 3rd tier of English football we averaged over 32000 at Maine Road. It's easy to fill your stadium when your winning the Premier League every year. Our average attendance at COMS since 2003 has been 47000, in 1987 would you like to tell me your average attendance at Old Trafford? (and bear in mind you finished 2nd that season) so you were hardly shit?

Tom Playford-Wall I think Richard Thomas has lost this arguement.

Richard Thomas Picking a particularly low year doesn't prove anything. And whilst it might be easier to pack a stadium when you're winning, to fill over 70,000 constantly is an achievement. All I was commenting on was the fallacy that City have such 'die hard' fans that out do United's and are always there. Everything from that ridiculous (and stolen) Poznan celebration, to your hugely artificially bank-rolled squad has no heritage whatsoever; so I was merely suggesting the fans should enjoy it whilst it lasts! But like all football, let's see what happens on the pitch boys!!

Josh Cohen I get annoyed when pundits and fans like to pick on teams for low attendances, totally disregarding the circumstances surrounding that low attendance. Filling Old Trafford every week is an achievement (we've got a long way to go to do similar) but it is a bi-product of your recent domination. My point above was that all clubs (including Trafford Rangers) suffer from low attendances when times aren't as prosperous on the field. So its very easy to pick on city and compare recent attendances when we've been in completely different situations. The Poznan is/was brilliant. The stadium is rocking when we do that, its something different and many clubs love the fact we do it. As to hugely artificially bank-rolled squad - could that accusation not be targetted at all the top teams? I'm struggling to think of any players from the top clubs who haven't been bought for millions? Of course when we talk about City we start the clock at a certain moment, and Utd fans argue 'we've done it over years' - does that make it any more acceptable? So you've been buying the Prem for years? Everyone spends millions, its the only way to do it and its nothing new. Plus I think you'll find your squad is bank-rolled (literally) as you borrowed off the banks, ours is purely out of a very rich man's pocket. I totally agree, lets see what happens on the pitch, pundits and fans criticising attendances and is petty.

Richard Thomas Agreed, but the artificial part comes from having someone with Billions that can lose money easily. Being leveraged against a bank completely restricts you, which is why we have to focus more on younger players; and Fergie's always done that in tandem with the big buys. However, maybe your new academy will churn out some awesome young stars and we can all unite when England start playing well!!

Bollocks. The one competition their ST holders aren't strong-armed in to, the Carling Cup, has had 20-30,000 empty seats two seasons in a row - Wolves last season, Palace this season. I hear they are allowing people to opt out of the European/Europa League scheme too so expect many thousand empty seats again.

Just because the club becomes rich and the players become expensive doesn't mean that the fans suddenly become rich. Do they really think that now they're rich and successful we can afford to pay more to see city, in this economic climate, after Christmas and ripping us off a few days earlier. Modern football makes me sick...but now I'm addicted.

The prices for the semi were the same price as two years ago against United, so a zero percent increase. Hardly ripping us off.
The cost of tickets at City has not increased at anywhere near the rate of the increase in the quality of the squad or the standard of the football.
Regarding the above post about our selling out every home PL fixture, is this actually true? Yes its posted on the OS but there are empty seats around me (block 132) at every single game this season. And others have commented on empty seats scattered around the ground. The reason for this have been debate with many a theory (standing with mates, people on holiday etc) but I don't buy that.
We have what is probably the best squad ever assembled, we are on the threshold of success yet we moan about having to pay the going rate for tickets. Let's face it London maybe a more affluent area than Manchester but is Liverpool? Look at ticket prices at any of the top 6 Clubs and then say we are being ripped off.
Only my opinion so probably not worth much, but if I was the Sheikh it would certainly make me think about investing more in the Club.

I'm not just going on about city. All ticket prices in the BPL are getting out of control now.

Also the club should have thought "so many expensive matches this close to each other and just after christmas too. 1 is much bigger than the other so Liverpool will probably have a low attendance... how about cheaper tickets? Hmm that's a good idea."
