Plummeting insect numbers 'threaten collapse of nature'

No. Less numbers of insect species leaves the entire insect population more exposed to weather and disease (less diversity) and insect numbers dropping too low means the majority of plant life dies and so do we.
No!

In the Scottish Highlands there's only tiny pockets of wilderness resembling anything like it's natural state. When you find them it's immediately noticible how the noise level increases with birdsong, you start to find butterfly's, beatles etc. Such a shame there's hardly any left. The rest is virtually barren wasteland populated by artificially controlled herds of deer, introduced populations of birds for shooting, ticks, midges and if you're lucky the occasional raptor that hasn't been poisoned yet.

Spectacular yes, wilderness no.

Has Ringo joined Paul on the Mull of Kintyre then?

The disappearing insects issue is very worrying. And,in this country,is probably behind the dwindling numbers of Eurasian Cuckoo migrants to our shores.
This well known, but rarely seen bird used to be a feature of our meadows and open countryside, but the bird feeds almost exclusively on insects....How soon before resident bird species also begin to disappear. Very very worrying, imo.

Yet cockroaches and mosquitos will probably live on to be a pain on the arse.

Until big business and selfish wankers realise they are destroying the planets natural order and eco-system then fuck all will change.

If the human race survives another few centuries it will be alone on a barren wasteland

Most folk in society now dont notice anything, never mind the disappearing insects,as they have no interest in the natural world around them.
They are obsessed by social media, money, and being a good decent consumer.

Easter Island, but on a much more massive and planet earth wide scale
