Used tor read his weblog. Interesting guy.

Best interview yet IMO on the James English Podcast. Fellow Mancunian Stephen Mee has an amazing story to tell. He was on the Liverpool Narcos recently as well. What a humble, intelligent guy, no ego whatsoever. Got a dealt a bad hand when younger, got into crime and ended up being a top tier drug trafficker. Some amazing stories , yes he done wrong and he’s knows more than anyone but he’s channeled his life around art now and is making it a big success.

That was a great listen

Insane story from a recovering gambling addict who lost a total of 10m including half a million of money he stole from his employeer. Just about put me off ever having a punt again, even a small one

Started a few of the Off Menu with James Acaster and Ed Gamble. Caught a few so far (Bob Mortimer, Tim Key are stand outs so far).
Yep to the Adam Buxton ones too - he's a bit of a whiz on this format.
Also 'Song Exploder' (listen to the Solange one earlier but these are new to me):

'You Must Remebner' looks interesting (this episode dialled up - Charles Manson's link up with Dennis Wilson from the Beach Boys):

'Criminal' is a possible nice one to get into:

But shockingly I never got round to the OG that is 'Serial' (which has been in the news lately...spoiler alert!).

So....I've decided I'm going to crack through these as they're landing well in my head at the moment (and takes me away from stream after stream).

Also reminds me of when I was a kid and my mum had Radio 4 on all the time in the kitchen, so there's a nice link to the past with this pastime.

The off menu ep with Bob is a classic.
You can tell he's given it some thought, and his little backstories are just a joy to listen too, particularly the odeon hot dog sauce application tale which is a nice personal father/son thing for him to share. They were audibly surprised when they found out how old bobs son is, and they were still doing it whenever they went to the cinema together.

Yeah - it's lovely that one.
I should go back and listen.
Acaster isn't as million miles away from Bob and his stories. Perhaps two of my fave comedians (although Bob is technically a funny guy rather than one of the stand up crew).

Smershpod - started as an overly sarcastic but affectionate run through the Bond films by British comedy writers and now onto any film that features anyone that’s ever been in a Bond film, so anything.

Recent ones on the last three Star Wars films are brutal, I had to stop listening on the bus as was starting to laugh too loudly in public

Struggling with some of the Crime podcasts (I'm a recent convert to podcasts so just finding my feet).
Serial was class as as S-Town (not strictly Crime) but a few more ended up annoying me.

Atlanta Monster was pretty good but went on and on being strung out for obvious commercial reasons. There was another I listened to before this was made (by the same guy) and I ended up alsmot forgetting what the actual crime was.
Felt like I'd picked up one of those discount books in those discount book shops (The Works!).

Currently blasting through Off Menu (funny) and the Infinite Monkey Cage (and funny and v interesting).

Bad People, Stuff you Should Know and Radio Lab.

Do the odd one related to my career too.
