I remember going to West Brom (about 87?) when Adcock scored in a 1-1 draw, when they nicked so many people in the ground, the away end was half empty by the finish. Singing, pointing, gesticulating, unless you were stood stock still in total silence, you were fair game. West Midlands were always the worst, with South Yorkshire not far behind

One of only 2 times I've been kicked out of any ground. 16 at the time. The reason they gave me for being ejected was 'sticking 2 fingers up'. Was promptly marched around the pitch, arm up my back, with 15,000 people flicking me the V's.

Midlands were definitely the worst.

I remember a lad being kicked out at West Brom for waving at his dad who was in the seats, I'm sure the West Midland cops had a quota of away fans they had to nick at each match.,

Not sure why escorts were ever needed as , according to some , there was never any trouble or it could easily be avoided. Waste of police resources and tax payers money then.

I remember going to st Andrews 75 I think .four or five coaches got there early got in the ground behind the goal the place was empty.as The brum boys numbers grew towards 3.00pm we were well outnumbered, word went round that the special was due.It kicked off royal,we were driven back to the turnstiles where a group of police were stood. One big sergeant calmly told us amid the mayhem that..."your from Manchester, your supposed to be hard I suggest you get on with it"....the football special never did turn up.That was the police for you in those days.

I think that West Brom game was used for footage to convict the Guvnors and. Young Guvnors as part of Operation Omega so no doubt the local bill were briefed about this. I seem to remember the above being in the West Brom end and then being marched back to our end when it kicked off.

I remember the Scouse cops driving their van up the pavement at us at the back of the escort going to Anfield in 1981. They 'accidentally' killed a local lad by doing the same thing in the Toxteth riots a few months later...

Agreed - we went on the service train and they kettled us at the station and we missed most of the first half

Lime St to Goodison mid 70s, huge City escort up Scotland Rd, i remember dodging a metal piss pot aimed at my head from the flats and women throwing used sanitary towels wrapped in dirty nappies from the top floor all the time fighting off Scousers shouting ''have you met Mr Stanley'' unfortunately that day my mate Irish Alex did meet Mr Stanley and he has the huge scar on his face as a reminder, bastards
I was with Alex that night. It was a midweek cup game in the 80`s. Alex, fat Baz and myself, were followed from Stanley Park roundabout by an ever increasing group of scallies. Because we kept turning round to face up to them, they didn`t have the bottle to do anything. That is until they numbered around 30, that's when they were brave enough to attack the 3 of us. Yep, Alex got his faced sliced from his eye to his chin., me and Baz were lucky, just punched and kicked. Very scary.[/quo

And PF got it at same time as Alex
