Police Officer convicted of being a member of Neo Nazi group.

Article says he also had autism ? The mind boggles how he got in the position he did

Are you saying that autistic people can't join the police, even if they meet the requirements?

I actually saw it as a stroke of luck that he is on the spectrum and was tied up in the fantasy world of it. The filming himself spray painting graffiti etc. If he was non autistic, I would think there would be a higher chance he evaded detection and was at greater risk of carrying out serious violence.

So it's good an autistic person beat the screening and not a sociopath? :)

In this circumstance, yes. It's mere supposition on my part, but he doesn't seem capable of successfully carrying out a murder and abduction of an innocent woman or multiple homicides like the USA cop below.

He shouldn't have been in the police, but if there are any that slip though vetting , you would rather they are fantasists who can't conceal their double lives well enough, instead of dangerous conniving psychopaths.

A police thread without Bert, who'd of thought that.
give over-what do you expect me to say? weirdo lies to join police, arrested and charged...by police and will go to prison.

Perhaps it exposes weaknesses in vetting but other than that good riddance to a pathetic individual.

This is his bedroom, is the cnut 12 years old ?

I'll be honest, it looks like how I imagine the bedrooms of most young neo-nazis look. To be honest reading it he seems like a pretty sad individual desperate for a group to belong to. Extremist organisations I think often attract people like this.

Another weird detail. Using your brother's oyster card is apparently "gross misconduct." I wonder why that is? ETA: Just looked it up. Presumably like a monthly pass rather than one that you have to top up anyway.

How the fuck does such a not right manage to evade the background checks? At least the fruitloop has been discovered relatively quickly, but someone in recruitment should be answering a few awkward questions....

I hate the far right, but being politically far right should not exclude you from being a policeman as long as whilst you are doing your job you have the ability to stay politically neutral and police according to the law.

However being an actual member of a banned organisation is against the law and if he breaks the law he should face the same action that any other policeman does when they break the law, which is the appropriate sanction.

I am against people being denied entry into jobs because of political beliefs because who decides which political beliefs are correct? A body deciding which political beliefs are acceptable is dangerous and it smacks of totalitarianism.

Being far right and wearing an Orange Sash was probably a requirement for the Royal Ulster Constabulary.

Could that same logic lead us to permit non offending NAMBLA and PIE members to work in environments with children?

As rumour goes

Its a fair point and not one i have a cogent argument against. Are NAMBLA and PIE proscribed organisations? They certainly are not what i would describe as political organisations although i accept they do probably have a fair amount of political lobbying power.
