Policing for European Games.

Completely agree! Some of them are an absolute joke, the lock in Madrid was a piss take.

Bratislava was up there with the best for me, appreciate it was only a small allocation but everything from the organisation to the policing I found exemplary.

Looking forward to moaning like fuck about Paris in January.

I think it is done to ensure most bars are shut by the time we arrive back. OK, there is always somewhere open and those wanting a drink at 12.30am will find it but, imo, that's the reason rather than possible violence.

Young Boys away last Season was an excellent experience and trip.

Made our own way to the Stadium on an excellent public transport system.

No trouble with locals.

Alcohol and tasty food in the away end :0)

No hold back after the game.

Buses in the away end compound for the away fans who wanted to use.

We decided not too and travelled on the local buses back to our accommodation with the general Young Boys fans and public alike with no problems whatsoever.

Switzerland expensive, but highly recommended :0)

agree with the above - Bratislava was handled really well, virtually no lock in and the authorities bussed us all back to the centre without fuss and nonsense.

Young Boys last year was very similar - two top trips without any nonsense from the local police.

I was in Lisbon the last time we played there and the way we were treated for the para-military police after the game was appalling.

Contrast that with Copenhagen last year where we were treated brilliantly inside and outside the Stadium.

European away fans at the Etihad are kept in just as long. Especially clubs that have a large European Ultra following.

I went to Naples when City won 3-2. We were kept in for well over an hour after the match had finished. The riot police escorted us on to the waiting buses in the away end compound. It took another 40 minutes to drive around Naples, not through it, to get back to the original bus pick up point. By the time we got back it had gone midnight. At least it wasn’t as bad as the Istanbul coach park farce after the CL final.
English fans are treated differently-
I went to Real Madrid away last season
Passport number on ticket, passport check, ultra violet light on the ticket ,
Searched , kept in after the game , watched the game through netting .escorted away from the ground even though I going in the wrong direction .
I managed to buy tickets from a Dortmund fan for their game the next day at Athletico - E- ticket not kept in treated completely differently
The police presence was far less

Real Madrid last year was relatively painless but only because we went into the Bernabeu two hours before kickoff and left 20 minutes before the end of the game so were able to escape the lock in (in an irish bar about a mile away ;-) )

That puts a whole new meaning to leaving early !!
