Policing in the UK

I would seriously question these figures. ‘Restricted’ duties are used for officers returning from period of sickness or injury, including injury on duty. Doesn’t fit the narrative though.

In other news reports of dozens of Met firearms officers are handing their tickets in. Good. Enough is enough. They don’t get paid anymore for it. They get to make split second decisions with incomplete information only to be picked over for years after. Who’d volunteer for that?

Let’s hope the close protection officers withdraw from their duties-watch Sunak, Braverman et al complain then.

Policing in this country is reaching a tipping point. The daily criticism and abuse from the politicians and the media is depressing and soul destroying. It sets a narrative that they’re all crooks and wrong uns and only worthy of shit pay and conditions.

Give the police full industrial rights, including the right to strike. Fuck it. Let’s see what happens then.

The Vorderman woman is a car crash anyway, the majority of the public don't believe that the police are all bad.

We can start by changing the rules they work under where they can whistle blow other bad officers and at the same time stop "Throwing the book" at them every time something happens.

Withdrawing carrying guns work is a start.

Tbf that’s not her report thought-that was the message from MSM-suspended or on restricted duties..

Whistle blowing does exist-we had an anonymous contact number in my force. Whilst I agree that much needs to be improved-I’ve banged on about it before; vetting, recruitment, training, pay and conditions-the majority of recruits during op uplift have been kids and they’re leaving almost as quickly as they join. But there is a huge pressure on chiefs from politicians to get rid of everyone that errs. Nobody will want to join. I used to tell everyone it was a great job-I wouldn’t want my worst enemy doing the job now. Thankless, relentless, horrible job.

What we have now is the direct result of politicizing Policing in the UK. First stripping out 20k officers and countless back office staff. When they talk about record investment in the Police that also includes massive redundancy payouts as no doubt a bobby with a year to go to their pension anyway will gladly take a handsome payout to supplement what is known to be a good pension. Then panic time - we need to recruit - if politicians wade in with promises based on numbers not talent you recruit based on a need to get bums on seats not recruits who are suitable for the job. Inevitably that means cash has been wasted on letting people go and in a number of cases in that 20k recruitment drive people are recruited because they fill a gap not necessarily bobbies suitable for the role.

Not one single police officer has ever been made redundant

Armed soldiers on the street.

Smells like fascism to me.

We wouldn’t need them if folk didn’t demand armed officers where prosecuted on the very rare occasion they shoot dead dangerous criminals whilst following their own rules and training and risking their own lives.

How do you know that he didn't go outside of that remit?

Eyewitness accounts say he refused to obey orders to get out of the car and instead he tried to ram police vehicles to get away.

Is that putting officers in danger and worthy of a response?

I’d say it was and he got it.

Just pretend it was a fat bald middle aged Englishman who voted for brexit and has a XL Bully if it helps you get over it.

Didn't know you owned an XL Bully.

More of a smooth haired miniature dachshund man myself.

I had a red one growing up. He hated walking over wet mud and I always used to pick him up to protect him from other dogs.

I'm guessing you wouldn't actually let your dogs play with bullies and are just being reactionary to an obvious OTT satirical post in an another thread just for the sake of it.

They don’t like the rain that’s for sure.

Love a bit of satire I do ;-)

We don't. Anyone who says they do is full of shit.

At present there's zero evidence avaialable to the public so any rational person would be letting the judicial process take place without assuming the firearms officer was right to shoot him or not.

Here comes the forums Oracle…

It's another Tory distraction. They are interfering with an ongoing legal case to say our police cannot do their job and blame the EHRC for it.

Eyewitness accounts say Russell Brand is a rapist but I think you were favouring an innocent until proven guilty approach on that one rather than a straight up extra judicial killing?
