Pepe is a bit shit now, feel like its time has passed unless there's a really good reason. NPC memes are all the rage now.

And part of the appeal of political memes is how terrible they are. The idea that somebody spent a lot of time making up these images to convey a usually pretty crap point is half the fun. It's also why "the left can't meme" meme exists. Memes are there to strawman ideas and show hypocrisy between the strawmen. The left often use them as legitimate debating tactics so try too hard to say things that make sense.

Making sense or being well designed are the anti-thesis of good memes. They're purposely crap.

This ISN'T a meme, but it is a clip that represents the concept you describe about what a meme should be -- an over the top generalization that makes it a point to drown out all rationality.
