Political relations between UK-EU

Okay, I’ll try again. Oxford would have denied the world a potential life saving vaccine if AZ refused to prioritise the UK?

They would have turned round and said ‘Nah, we’ll sit this one out.”

Their humanity and altruism is inspiring.

To be fair, I’ve felt since 2016 the EU have been sat quietly, looking at us like we’re absolutely insane, and we are flapping like idiots, whilst they ask us if we are ok.

But the first time since, the shoe seems to be on the other foot.

Correct.

There’s a difference, some who support EU membership, ie me, do so on the premise only of it being beneficial to the UK but fundamentally our loyalties lie with our country. Now the EU aren’t acting in our benefit and are acting in aggression towards us, my natural position is one of defence.

Spot on.

I am pro EU and voted remain, I have been critical of the UK been reckless with GFA agreement during the course of Brexit. I don't like Johnson and think he has made huge errors during the last 12 months but the UK vaccination programme has to date been extremely well managed and deserving of praise. The right thing for the EU to do would be to focus increasing production of the vaccine at sites throughout Europe not putting a wrecking ball to Irish, UK and European relations and essentially starting a vaccine war.

Horrendous optics.

They have to honour both. If you can’t honour both, you sit down with the parties concerned and restructure the deals. You don’t honour one and expect the other party to lump it.

This is either a collaborative effort or it isn’t and if it isn’t then you let the party that thinks it is a collaborative effort know accordingly.
Restructure the deals with whom exactly? Every company around the World that is producing the AstraZeneca vaccine, or just the UK based company's?

Johnson probably can't believe his luck, tbh. It's detracted a lot of attention from many of the grim realities of Brexit, and most likely increased public support for leaving.

There is some irony after making a career out of bluster and bombast that his most effective play was to shut the fuck up and keep his head down

You haven't seen the contract and I'm willing to bet that UK made vaccine is NOT going into EU supply chain unless it's excess product which is entering the EU for full specification release testing. In which case it's being done as a favour for the EU. If you're apparently moving vaccine to there it's for that reason and that reason only. The MAA (market authorisation documents) state the manufacturing labs which to my knowledge contains NO UK sites for the EU territory.

Oh P.S. if they are importing UK made vaccine to do full specification release testing, it's approx. 54 days' work to complete.

Your knowledge is incorrect then, the U.K., the US and Belgium are all listed as manufacturing sites.
