So all those Johnsonian lies about straight bananas in the EU and we're heading back to when you couldn't get bananas at all...

Yes, we have no bananas ....

I am quite sure you could write a 500 page book just each page full of Johnson lies with a brief explanation as to how much of a lie it was

Twitter has been wonderful tonite- a load of St George flag numpties seem to think the England team beat Angela Merkel earlier and now she is going to have to concede various sorts of Brexit "wins" to Johnson? Full on loons.

Merkal going to meet Liz on Friday. The German Chancellor wants to talk to the adult in the room.

Boris saves the British Banger for 3 months. Until he has to go back and ask again for the EU to extend the grace period.

What a victory....
We have postponed import controls two times now, the last time being on the 12th June. Taking back control of our borders, eh? We have less checks now than we did when we were members, and the infrastructure and personnel required to enable that are not happening. We ain't building back better, because we ain't building anything at all for our great 'Lets get Brexit' done charade.

50,000 customs clerks are required to facilitate the smooth running of our imports and exports. We haven't recruited any. I say smooth running, but that's a fallacy, of course. We need that many public employees to make sure the mountains of paperwork are correctly processed before anything can leave or enter the country, but our grace periods are disguising that little detail. Those checks haven't started yet.

It's going to be interesting next January when we lose our certification rights. Is that going to be postponed as well?

The tories are delaying the true impact of brexit for as long as they can, but it can't go on forever, and they know it.

Brexit really hasn't started yet. Sure, there are impacts that are hurting us at the moment, but the true impacts are still being deferred. We really are in an uncomfortable place, because it's only a matter of time before the world runs out of patience with us and demands we implement proper controls of our borders, and when that happens, the shit really will hit the fan.

It wont be the EU hating us. They have bent over backwards to help and assist us, hence the grace periods, but it's a dog eat dog world out there. We are on our own, and there are international rules governing trade which we are currently flouting which won't be tolerated by countries with much more clout than we have.

Our true place in the world is about to be discovered, and it will be a slow recognition that a relatively small island off the coast of Europe has to bow down to the new world order.

We used to be rule makers. We aren't anymore. We will be rule takers, with little influence over what happens to us.

We can fly our flag all we like over public buildings, but in the hard nosed realty of the new world, the UK is nothing special. The empire has gone, we couldn't afford to keep it, and we have left the most prosperous economic block on the planet to make life for ourselves much more difficult for some vague notion we can influence the world.

We are fucked.

I have to hand it to Nissan, leveraging their position to a total of £200m in Govt subsidies and making themselves the Brexit poster boy.

While Brexit is such a political fault line, the Govt cannot afford for Nissan Sunderland to fail, which puts the company in a strong position for future subsidies. Well played.

You can fly it round your neck and over your face now - state of this chubbling - he and Dowden think we will soon regain some sort of empire
