You'd think someone in the Jersey government would have learnt from the plight of UK shellfish exporters. "Let's take control and ruin our own industry."

There are issues over sustainability (see below) but these current problems stem from Brexit-led delusion about control of "our" waters.

To summarise if you can't get past the paywall. Exports to 23 countries with which we have free trade agreements will have to pay tariffs if they are operating from our new freeports. Countries include some of our larger export markets like Switzerland, Norway and Canada and consist of 10% of our exports. It relates to some countries that had deals with the EU that were rolled over. Truss was warned but managed to fuck it up by not negotiating the removal of certain provisions from the rolled over deals. Freeports not so free after all.

Leavers don't care that it's a colossal fuck up. They are delighted it's our colossal fuck up rather than an EU non fuck up.
