Political relations between UK-EU

If the page is spammed with news stories without any commentary as to why they are anything to do with the topic, they just make it unreadable.

Heat pumps in Scotland - the UK govt have just announced that they're going to (some how) support them. Is this anything to do with Brexit?
A NI-based company expanding in NI - good news, certainly, but anything to do with Brexit?

Shell moving - now that looks likely to be on topic; why is it happening?

"as it ends EUROPEAN production"

Honda have been planning of pulling out for years.

"Typifying developments in both the global and domestic automotive industry, the shifting demand for electric vehicles has become the catalyst for the end of Honda production in the UK, which will be replaced with a new logistics site.

While some analysts have described the shutdown as Brexit-related collateral damage, Honda has denied that Britain’s withdrawal from the EU was the cause of its plans to cease production in the UK and manufacture new models abroad since it first announced the closure in February 2019."

This has nothing to do with brexit or the EU. Did you even bother to read the article?

@Vic asked where all the positive news had gone. I presume because he thought there wasn’t any. So just brought him back up to speed over the last 2 weeks.

The original thread that was pulled twice was a counter to all the doom and gloom we see on other threads, including this one. It wasn’t to say the world is rosy but nor is it all doom and gloom. Nothing to do with Brexit other than to say that there are global companies still investing millions into the UK because they believe it makes commercial sense in the here and now and the long term. That’s great news for the UK.

Shell is cited as due to corporation tax, cheaper to move to UK… stops them having to run 2 tax regimes (currently they are headquartered in both UK and Netherlands). Main beneficiary will be the UK treasury who gets more revenue.

A three month old article which relates to a decision announced almost three years ago. God loves a trier I suppose.

Thanks, sounds like a financial benefit to Shell is the driver, rather than a Brexit bonus. I always thought the two-centre idea was strange, and saw the story last night without reading it.

You'd like to think that there should be a benefit to the treasury from that!
