vardy plays the same teams we do with way less possession. the difference is they take their attempts straight up field and push to the net.You have to factor in that Sergio is playing against packed defences pretty much every game, whereas Vardy rarely has to. Obviously that will affect the quality of goal scoring chances. Both have done well this season but I'd prefer Sergio in our set-up, just as Vardy is more effective for the way Leicester play.
As are the type of most of the goals we concede.
we take our initial possession sideways and back 15 times, till their whole team is back behind the ball then we have to break all 10 men down from a static position while they are facing forward, to get an attempt. Very easy to defend this way.
playing out from the back doesn't draw teams out anymore, in fact they've been on to that for awhile, yet we continue to spurn a lot of man advantage chances by doing this, even when you notice that most of the goals we do score now are from the few times we are direct. Yet we still dick around too much in our half and it has cost us. We need to start passing up the sides right away where the space is and get back to the diagonal through balls that on form Merlin, KDB, and Bernie are so good at, while they are put to the test, while running backwards while defending. which is much harder, before they can line up five across the back, and sergio, gabby, raz and mahrez will all benefit. Sorry for running on, we waste so much time where other teams can't afford to is my point. Seems now we can't either.
