Porto (h) post-match thread

I know I'll probably be shot down for this but it's sometimes best to be critical after a win as you look back without the anger of the loss. Cancelo had a stinker and is not the left back we need, zinchenko is the better option now he's fit. Garcia and Dias had good games and the latter is settling well. Walker is having a storming season and played well again. Rodri isn't the answer to Fernandinho and I'm not sure what he is the answer to. Not mobile enough, doesn't take one for the team and plays very slowly and not through the lines. Ilkay got a pass for a fantastic free kick but other than that he was poor and doesn't bring much to the team. Silva had a poor game by his standards and need so reach the Liverpool game standards again as there is a fantastic player in there. The front 3 did what they had to do, Sterling looks great amd played well and Aguero is working back into form, terrible penner though. Mahrez was just Mahrez, all left foot. Step overs. Greedy. Plays with his head down and is out for himself most of the time. Foden was exactly what was needed to inject pace and creativity and tenacity and him and Torres linked up well but the overall final score line flattered really. All that being said Porto were diving, cheating, nasty bastards and we had zero protection from the refs. I'm sure they waited so long on the pen as they were dying to over rule a blatent foul with Ilkays accidental clip of the goalies leg.
We need a left back and I have no idea why that hasn't been addressed and we need to find a replacement for Ferns replacement.

Wow where do you start, so many poor performances inc the manager

That 1st 50 minutes was fooking toothache very very poor at times, we really struggle to develop breaking that defending middle & constantly give ball after ball away

What the fook was Cancelo on tonight?

Garcia is weak as piss & Rodri is just not good enough

Picking up those balls off Eddy & fullbacks only happens when Rodri has 20 yards of space its to slow often when he starts we start really slow
Fuck knows what we do now Dino is out, 6 weeks is a long time thats around 12 games

People have a dig about Gundagun but it starts imo from when Rodri gets it

2nd half was much better but Phil & Toress made it quicker around the link ups & shorter & quicker passing definately changed it

Walker was mom for me & Dias settled down after a bad mistake

Pep, not got a clue why Dino comes on with 10 mins to go, crazy substitution for me he was never warmed up the guy is 34 not 24

Easy after the event just dont get it?

Put this 1 out there?

Sergio looks like hes wearing lead boots in quicksand

Rodri for me is back up at best

LB is still a massive problem

Injuries dont get any easier, Peps intense training & workload isn't helping compared to other clubs, all teams are playing so no excuses yes Champs League gives us an extra 6 games this next 2 months

If Messi is coming in January then great, waiting for Summer for another fwd would be wrong imo

Also with Dino struggling would you go for Declan Rice or Calvin Philips??

2 decent young England lads that would give us 10 years service

Go get 1 of them with Messi & Ake to solve LB

Thoughts please??

No to Rice & Phillips from me.

Not a fan of Gundogan but I agree he wasn't the main offender tonight.

Rodri was often stood directly with a player between him & the ball, leaving no out ball, exactly how Pep coaches players not to position themselves. When he did appear, there was often no point in passing to him as he just played it where it came from.

I'd rather have a player there who is seriously good at winning the ball stopping attacks or creating & shit at the other, than one who is average at both.

Agree with most of that
