Was hoping to see the Baywatch babes running on to save all the divers and the "out of his depth " ref. Truly shocking refereeing especially Garcia's yellow card. If that was a yellow - it was barely a free kick - then Pepe should be shot at dawn for his assault on Sterling for the penalty.
I don't have an issue with their manager having a go at Pep during the game or being vocal / passionate about his players, but when it's done it's done. Shake hands and move on.

you have to admire Pepe has made a career of being a top level shithouse.
The first half was very slow and we were picked off ridiculously for that goal, i didnt enjoy Cancelo's performance at all either, he looked very poor. Second half a marked improvement and the pace obviously helped us turn the screw. Not a bad result for the first game in europe but the first half fits a pattern that is increasing in frequency.....
the ref was shit yes, but i was on a 'neutral' website following it and have to say the general comments were that the ref was just totally shit, not 'corrupt' or something. If he was so corrupt, he had ample opportunity to overturn our penalty decision, however wrong you make think it would have been. Many fans on here now see any slight derision or criticism as big media corruption or any decisions against us as uefa and liverpool conspiracies. Not denying some shady shit exists but some people need to grow up.

As long as we are getting results it's all good but the level of play has been really disappointing, we look miles off our average performance from a few years ago.
The injuries and the farcial circumstances in terms of number of games of course don't help but still it's something to worry about. If the results stop coming with this sort of performance there will be a lot of uproar.
As for the game, it was similar to Arsenal. Game that could've gone either way but Porto didn't take their chances when they had to and we punished them with 2 set pieces.

Against a better team, we might have struggled to gain control, but for the moment, the result was all that matters.
I thought Gundogen was good, and Walker excellent, but how many more goals would Sterling score if he actually shot at goal, rather than slowing down, and waiting for contact?

Good that Aguero got off the mark for the season,

Worryingly bad defending for their goal, and terrible by Cancelo for that in particular, and most of his game was poor. Too many heavy touches; I hate defenders putting their hands behind their backs; and, imho, he looks very far from a £60m player.
Wierd referreeing and strange that the VAR decision on the penalty went our way.
Mediocre performance which improved as the game went on, with a great result and superb 3rd goal, which should help Torres to settle in. If a rag or dipper had scored that, the media would be touting it for goal of the month.
All in all, glad to win a scrappy game, highlighted by our 2nd and 3rd goals - and, of course, some good old-fashioned brutality from our old friend Pepe.

Played ok’ish. First half there was not enough movement from Bernie and Gundo to get into space to receive the ball, which slowed everything down too much. Kun is not yet anywhere near fit and can’t press to anything like we need so the whole first half was flat. Also the ref made it nigh on impossible for us to pressure them as every time we tackled it was a yellow card (5 for us in the match and I can’t remember one that was worthy of a yellow). Second half I thought Gundo was much better and surprised he went off (Rodders would have been my pick). Phil and Torres gave us much needed energy and will have to play at the weekend. Finally Mahrez has one of the best touches I have ever seen, shame he is such a greedy player as there is a lot of talent there

Not what I said. I meant they should be part of the starting XI, ahead of the likes of Gundo, Mahrez etc

Even when we went 1-0 down, I wasn’t worried and we played better against them than the rags would have done. Wasn’t a great performance, but we did the job required.
Absolutely pathetic VAR sh*tshow with how long it took to review the penalty decision however.
