Positives From Our Blackest Night In Beswick

The only positive I can think of is how great the card display was I was pleasantly surprised and thought we wouldn't be organized enough to pull it off..the atmosphere was good better than I expected the supporters to me were top class and I have so much respect for the fans that clapped robben off he deserved it and it showed that city supporters can be very classy which is a rare thing nowadays

In my opinion we scored the best goal of the night ..... nobody in world football could have that ball away that any better than Negredo ... a world class strike!

We were outplayed in every position on the pitch and out thought by management. We had about 10 minutes where Bayern fell asleep and stopped playing, but it's not the equivalent of a bright spell. There really weren't many positives on the night but there are opportunities to be taken from the game, that can hopefully be turned to positives as we go on.

There is no shame in being beaten by a better team, but there is in being out worked. We should never be out worked by any team, ever, never mind when we're at home.
I think we've all seen when weaker teams stay with better teams for a large chunk of a match because they are working twice as hard as them. There should never be a case where we are out worked. It's unacceptable, especially when you look at the wage these guys are on. The least that is expected of these guys is to work for their pay.

Bayern were proactive, they came to our pitch and attacked us. They were proactive, we were reactive, which shouldn't be the way for a home team. They didn't fear us, they came to our pitch and just owned us. That simple. They knocked us aside like we were nothing.
They just seemed so unprepared. Bayern didn't change the way they played over night, but we were so unprepared for it.

They had a better attitude, which is really disapointing. They played as a time, while I've always felt that we act like a group of individual players, which doesn't help.
They seemed to know where their players were at all times, they knew what the plan was with and without the ball, The backed eachother up and filled in gaps. We had a bunch of players going in, making decisions and passing balls on a whim and a prayer. It's not good enough.

The only positive..It wont happen in the Premiership, the teams aren't good enough to do that to us.
Hopefully we can learn from it, work harder and be more prepared in the future.

What's so sad though is our attitude, has we lost sight of where we used to be. This was my biggest concern when the club was bought, have we so quickly forgotten where we used to be. We should be grateful for what we do have, we were incredibly lucky that we were bought and not some other mid table team. Lets not forget the club we used to be.
Not long ago we would just be happy to have the opportunity to play such an incredible team, never mind be calling for players and management alike to be sacked because we couldn't meet their standard.

Who's calling for players and managers to be sacked...give your head a wobble

I was thinking that. There was no bitterness in the ground - proof that our fans appreciate good football when they see it. Usually, at home, it comes from us but last night Bayern were awesome. Some fans would have booed at the end. We didn't and, we applauded the opposition. As fans, we have our off days but, as they say (Hart critics take note) Form is temporary, class permanent

Was a complete wanker in 306 last night, around row X or Y that was mouthing off to all and sundry near him when Boateng got sent off:

'Go on then you wankers, why aren't you applauding him off too, you've clapped the rest of their fucking team!!!'

Obviously too wound up to be able to understand what had happened previously.

Robben and Ribery, along with Muller and Dante were absolutely outstanding last night.

Strange but true

The one good thing from a defeat is the possibilty of lessons to be learned

If we can use this now , we can kick on

No question that we have the talent,. The team spirit had been improving seasomn on season : here's an opportunity to galvanise a hefty response v toffees..
Hit 'em hard in attack, and don't give 'em in inch when they're in possession... (i.e. FOOKIN PRESS!!!!!!!!!! Jeez it's not rocket science !!!

Stretch the defence (we now have the pace on both flanks) attack and attack

BUT
watch the shape in defence

We've been punished for defensive complacency this season and we need to shore things up

I'm amazed that I have been passed over as first team coach LOL !!

Only ever other post last night.

We lost a battle, not the war.
We never gave up and, for what little it is worth after the first eighty minutes, finished the stronger team.
Merlin is back.
We have the playing personnel in situ already to improve upon this game.
We have an experienced manager who is humble enough to see his flaws.
We will learn from this.

The final whistle has long since been blown and I can come out from behind the sofa now.
