Hard to believe a middle aged bloke goes into a pub and ends up dead because some scrote takes a pop at him.

I fear he only gave himself up because he was allegedly spotted leaving the pub with two blokes , who probably put pressure on him to hand himself in before the cops dubbed them 'accessories to murder' ........ other than that he'd probably have taken his chances!
