Sometimes - James

"I don't really believe you like Frank Sinatra"
Dexys,I always wondered who robin was,or rrrrrrobin.

Moving into the universe, drifting this way and that

The very excellent Talking Heads. And she was.

".... Romford ....."
Although I'm sure there was a mention of Romford in born slippy,it may well feature in a few other songs

correct, the other 2 are 2 versions of Travelling Riverside Blues, by Led Zep and Robert Johnson. Johnsons version is where the lemon line originally comes from.
Well if we're going back to Robert Johnson how about:

"Robert Johnson blues chain gang on the county farm"
Come on in my kitchen?

That's the one I was thinking of. Surely nobody else ever sang the word Romford?

I'm sure some obscure punk of ska band must have mentioned it at some point!

She didn't know how to live in a town that was rough. Toughie that

Nope. The song I'm thinking of was recorded by a Macc born blues artist who worked with Eric Clapton, Peter Green and various others before moving to America. I don't think it's a cover as this bloke wrote most of his own stuff.

"I used to do a little
But a little wouldn't do
So the little got more and more
I just keep trying to get a little better
Just a little better than before"

Quite by coincidence I listened to that about an hour ago!

No idea on the song as I've not listened enough to his stuff, but sounds like you are describing John Mayall?
