Post-KDB Era: Who Will Be City’s Standout Player in 2025/26?

Cherki is the obvious answer, but…

I’m going Doku despite not being his biggest fan at present.

Our best player in the CWC and I think we’re going to play quicker and he’s also going to play simpler.

I think this could make it a break out season.

Need something from him, Mahmoush or Savio where they are seen as one of the best players in the Prem.

If Rodri can get back to even 90% of what he was before, it’ll be him, because he’s by far our best player and for me he was for three years straight even though De Bruyne, Haaland and Foden won POTS awards ahead of him in 2022, ’23 and ’24.

I’d be patient with Cherki. He’s apparently very inconsistent, and I’d imagine our midfield three will be Rodri Reijnders and Foden at the top of the pecking order.

Interested to hear people’s thoughts on this.

With De Bruyne now gone (sad face) and other experienced heads sadly no longer the players they once were. The upcoming season looks to be very exciting with some new faces through the door.

Who do you think will be the main man for us this season and why?

My thoughts - Marmoush

He has the work rate, the versatility, and he has already shown flashes of top-class finishing since arriving. His pressing looks on point, and with more minutes and confidence, I believe he could become this season’s POTY. He seems to back himself and has already shown glimpses of what he can produce in big moments. I genuinely think he could become the player we turn to when it matters most.
Great player for me. Always looking forward and gets the others going.

I agree, although I have high hopes.

In the CWC he looked very fun to watch and the friendlies.

I expect we will see more as a sub whilst he gets up to speed and he has serious competition.

I’m still unsure if we will see Foden middle or wide, it will really depend on him and if he can get back to one of the first names on the team sheet!
