Work rate and hunger with and without the ball

Nasri on the left 31 year old Iniesta on the right. Yes samir went off at 62 but even allowing for that it gives a good indication of what's required to suceed.

Watching the first half, it was like a cat toying with a mouse before he kills it. The second half was a big improvement (not difficult). The worrying thing though is our lack of improvement in our CL campaigns. This is our fourth season in the competition, and is there any significant improvement from when we stepped out against Napoli in September 2011? Yes, we're getting tough draws but we can't keep using that as an excuse. We'll keep on getting them until we make a serious run in the competition (QF onwards). We don't seem cunning enough or tactically aware of how to play against Europe's elite. And I don't see it changing anytime soon.
Spot on .
4 years on and we still haven't sussed it out .

Not meaning to be a moaning drama queen, but let's not kid ourselves here. The ONLY reason we got even slightly back into it in the 2nd half was because Barca took their foot off the gas being 2-0 up. Had they needed to score 4 to go through, I fear they would have done. We are a way off their level at the moment, but playing shit with the wrong line up and poor substitutions doesn't exactly help our chances.

Sorry, but that is just rubbish, from the restart we pressed Barca in their half, at every opportunity, we forced 3 corners in as many minutes, and created a number of chances, a couple of very good ones, we played well.

We finally did what we set out to do at the start, with the same 11 that started, the same formation, and the same tactics, the change at 60 minutes improved us further (should have been done at 45 or before for me), and we got a goal, only to then lose a player, so we had to be more cautious again.

Arsenal's performance sort of puts things into perspective.

For sure we underperformed and missed a big opportunity to have a great European night, but there was something quite indecent about seeing Arsenal tonight... like watching someone sh*t themselves on public transport...

Agree with this. There may have been an element of Barca thinking we were totally shit after our first half performance and they could almost score at ease but the change was down to a change in our work rate and desire which once again during the first half was totally missing.

Hopefully can get rid of about 8 players and get a real good team.

City pay the highest wages, why aren't they up there with Bayern, Barca and Real? Shameful.

May have something to do with the fact we pay very good money to very very average players like Fernando Milner Clichy

Proof wages dont give you the best team. United, are currently shelling out £214.8m

You guys gave a good show in 2nd half.
Barca usually falls asleep like that as was shown in our Copa match vs. Atleti at Calderon.
