What happens now, labour saying they will form a minority govt? Can they do that?
I can't see how we can go into brexit negotiations with a hung parliament. They can't agree to bugger all at the best of times, this just makes it impossible to go into it with a strong stance if any stance at all.Biggest winners today is the Europeans I feel, biggest cock up of all time with brexit negotiations due to take part in 10 days
Do you think the result isn't significant then?!
Would be amazing.
She isn't that popular. There was a coordinated effort from No voters in the Ref to vote Tory to orev
The vote up here was all about Indy 2. When the threat to have an independent Scotland is removed, which is now and most of them will vote labour..
There are a group what I call socialist monarchists, there is a sectarian aspect to this too. Corbyn speaking to the IRA, even though it helped get the agreement doesn't matter so that hardcore will never vote for him but a lot will.
If Scottish Tories had the same policies as England the result would have been different. Why vote to cut tuition fees when you don't pay them in Scotland? Why vote for a bus pass at 60 when you already get it (rather than retirement age as the Tories have done in England)? And so on ...What now for Ruth Davidson? If it wasn't for her we would now have a Labour/SNP/Lib dem/Green government.
Oh there was tactical voting there too, I'm sure of that. Unionists will see Corbyn as the most likely to cough up an indyref2 to get into power and his history with the IRA during the troubles sets a poor precedent.
That said, Davidson is one of the most charismatic and genuinely likable Tories around and I think it does her a disservice to say that she wasn't a major driving force in their revival in Scotland.
Ruth is a very personable politician but she has run a very limited albeit successful campaign on the basis of 'say no to indyref2'. The surprise for me in Scotland is the resurgence of the Labour Party which ran a far more ambiguous line on indyref. If Ruth had run purely on the Tory manifesto don't think we would be looking at the level of gains achieved.CCHQ might be asking her to come down for a chat.

What a load of tosh, we are now more likely to get some sort of deal, as apposed to dropping of a financial cliff that "no deal May" would have given us.
Mcdonnell seemed to be suggesting that some Tory MPs would support socially progressive policies. Maybe all the new Scottish Tory MPs!corbyn saying they wish to form a minority government, can someone explain

May will not last the week. Tory party leadership is based on autocracy tempered by assassination. If she doesn't step down others will push her. Quite right too, she has made a fundamental mistake backed up by the worst run campaign in living memory. At least May is staying to steady the ship.
The kids, and they can only be kids, that have voted for Labour have done with no memory. It's the only explanation. They haven't seen the damage Labour have done in the past. Poor tories had to come in and save the country.
So will it be Tory/DUP in government now ? For how long ?
